Yeah, it would encourage many. As you say. As I see it, the two key issues are;

Criminals and undesirables need to be stopped.
The legitimate asylum seekers need to be kept safe.

I can’t see how else that could be done. It seems that every solution has accompanying problems.

What do you think could be done?

Encourage France (Belgium) and Frontex to stamp out the criminal activity on their mainland coastline
Continue with the policy of bringing in the most vulnerable and genuine processed refugees from UNHCR camps under the vulnerable refugee schemes (existing safe route) which also in turn continues with the policy of not encouraging people to make long and hazardous cross border trips using people smugglers

That’s what we are doing now and it doesn’t work.

Telling all the headlines are “30 migrants die” and not “30 people die”.

Sadly 30 hapless souls have lost their lives, your feelings about terminologies are seemingly selfish, irrelevant and insensitive.

France and Frontex need to do more then to stop the criminality on their coast.
The French interior minister said earlier they are doing everything they can to stop the boats and are making an increased number of arrests of traffickers.
Perhaps this tragedy will lead to an increase in both boat stops and arrests by the French.

I'm not sure the relatives of these poor folk would regard it as so important right now

I think it’s very indicative of how the media portrays these people. And relevant now more than ever.
One can have sympathy for the dead and their relatives at the same time as have an opinion about how the media portrays them. And he’s not saying it to the relatives so I’m not sure what your point is?

I thought migrants are people anyway.
The headline just informs the reader.

if it had been a tragedy at a concert it would be
30 concert goers die

if it had been a tragedy at a football match it would be
30 football fans die

i dont see the issue here

When the CT opened I’m pretty certain that British Border force of the time were in the booths on the French side and and the French on this side, did I imagine that?

Anyway maybe it’s time to do a deal and allow British Military to help patrol the French beaches?

No. you didn't imagine it, but you voted to get rid of it (twice). See if you can see the problem with your second suggestion (clue- you voted to get rid of it - twice)

As asked a number of times. do you have any solution to the position you have voted us into

Or do you want to simply keep trolling under this particular account ?

I ask a simple question, you reply not with an answer but a question.

I think I see the issue.

No you didnt imagine it, part of the non-EU bilateral Le Touquet agreement. Still going.
The French MP for pas-de-Calais suggested a couple of weeks ago France should consider possibly scrapping it, but he was super miffed at the time over the fishing spat.
It would appear the French do indeed need some assistance policing their beaches.

I really can't see why the French have any real interest in helping, tbh.
'We' chose to go it alone, therefore if it's a problem (which it seems to be for some), then it's down to the government to solve it...or not.
If they can't, well, so be it.

He does have a point, we said leaving the EU would make the situation worse, mainly because you can only control one side of a border and exiting all existing unified agreements and accords would exarcerbate the problem. But you bought the populist bluster, you sided with the grifters, snake oil salesmen and said all these genuine concerns were project fear and you knew exactly what you were voting for.

How would you solve this sad issue?
