Exercise

Willpower

Watch what you eat and the amount you eat and drink.

I've cracked it finally myself.

Lift weights for maximum effect.

Stop drinking soda and eating crisps.

You don't have to bust a gut exercising either.Just work up a decent sweat.I didn't bother with gyms etc.

Everyone tends to get a bit excited with food and drink over xmas.Even i do.Now it's back to my diet plan.

Abort, retry, fail
I was 10.5 stone when I came back from my gap year. At 6'2", that was quite skinnny, considering I am broad shouldered. I'm now 16.5 stone, granted I have a lot more muscle than I did, but I do need to lose weight.

I am planning to cut down on bread (with bread comes butter/spread), drinking during the week, exercise regularly and cut down on fatty foods such as cheese, crisps and so on. If you are hungry, then drink some water or eat some seeds.

Bread and cheese are a killer for me too.I simply love that stuff.

I can devour a block of Cheddar/Stilton/Port Salut/Etc in no time. Must beat it..! I had given up for a month, but then got invited to a Boxing Day bash and the started was a humongous melted Camembert and french stick. :nono:

Never been much of a sweet tooth (apart from fruit 8+ a day).

Extra strong door step wedges of Cheddar/onions in French bread or a proper loaf from a bakery.

Stop it. I'm almost tempted to go down and dig out the Stilton and Chive that is sweating by the kettle (not mine - the cheese or the kettle).

My girlfriend has gone over to another site(petrol station) which does M&S food. She gets 75% discount on food going out of date.I'm eating food i wouldn't dream of paying for.Fresh lemon sole, cod fillets, sirloin Steak etc.

She has only been there a month and both of our freezers are full of cracking food stuff.

Nice! My sister used to work for Raymond Blanc's bakery, whilst at our uni, so she used to bring over tonnes of bread and cakes - thankfully two of my housemates were stoners, so they hoovered up most of it.

Fish is a good bet. So much goodness and not much fat.

Booze is the killer for me (along with cheese and bread). Wine and beer are hugely calorific and it makes you less active the following day.

That's it for me i'm off to bed.I'm excited about tomorrow.

Don't eat any carbs after lunch, stick to low carb veg (brocolli, greens, cauliflower (no carrots parsnips potatos) etc) and lean meat (fish, chicken, turky, lean cuts of beef).

Just cut out the crap - snack on fruit (which is what I've been doing) and keep up with an exercise routine. I've always being doing the exercise but since 1st jan I have cut out all the sweets, crisps, bread, and reduced my beer intake and I've lost 7lbs in two weeks. I was 14st so had it lose, but as long as you keep active that's they key.

Forget anything with artificial sugars such as Aspartame - they are the devils work. If you cant do without sugar in tea, coffee etc then reduce it down to the lowest measure you can adjust to.

Don't answer every call from your stomach.
Modern man has an easy route from the armchair to the fridge, and will often stuff some/any crap into his face even without even being hungry. Treat hunger as a friend, those feelings are good and will sharpen you up mentally as well.

Eat slowly. The stomach tells you it's in need of filling, even while you are eating. It might say "enough thanks" halfway through your normal meal, if you took your time and let the stomach have time to compute what its' condition is.

Don't 'go on a diet' - just (as is said above this post) eat thoughtfully. You barely need carbohydrates, and if you are overweight you can be happy knowing that your metabolism can burn YOUR bulk instead of something you ate earlier. Yes to greens and leans.
NO pre-made curries or restaurant foods unless you know they are low in calories. LESS spuds and rice and pasta with meals that demand they be there.

Now, about 'Weightwatchers' meals in the supermarket fridge; They are not tasteless and they are satisfying, but for a man-style meal they are weak on portion sizes. You *can* help them be a bit more substantial by adding some frozen peas, or spinach or something.

Fry-ups are out of the question, and baked beans are smothered in sugary sauce. But you can still enjoy lovely scrambles with a bit of salmon or mushrooms or onions etc, and find out that they are an excellent substitute for eggssausagesbaconbeansblackpudchips&tomatosauce.

Dairy; cut down on it, and use the lower-fat-content milks and cheeses.

Sugar; An addictive substance. Everyone wants to put 2 spoons of the stuff in their tea, and that masks the taste of the tea so much it's a wonder they don't just skip the tea and have sugar soup! If you cut down on sugar gradually day by day, you will soon find that you can taste the merest amount in your tea or coffee, and won't go back to the loaded spoonfuls ever again. Chocolate is great, but get the high cocoa lower fat variety and treat it as a nibbled treat and not something you scoff. Desserts are wonderful but terible for putting on pounds and contaminating you with sugar that is bad for you. Eat fruit instead, and if you buy it in cans get the ones in juice, not syrup.
Vegetables in cans are often loaded with sugar and salt, and canned meats are so bad using salt as a preservative - especially those fray bentos meat pies. Pastry is bad. bad bad bad. Avoid.

Exercise. Forget about all the above if you aren't going to bother getting exercise or honour your body with activity.
Swimming is excellent - the best! It's low/no impact, full muscular, and makes you more aware of your body. Do it, even if the body-awareness is embarrassment to begin with. Try learning a self-defense, and although muscle-building is a good thing, I wouldn't suggest trying too much of that at once, just a general toning in the gym until you start seeing your shape improving.

Think - by staying fat or overweight, you are doing your enemies a favour. You will not be having the quality of life you could have. You are carrying pounds around all day, that put stress on your lower limbs.

The down side; You will need to rethink your wardrobe, and make some holes in your belts to allow them to be tightened. But you will look a lot better without a shirtful of lard that hangs over your belt that's pulled in to make you look like a tied and bulging sack, and you'll feel better wearing a nice suit or smaller sized jeans.
