Sounds like he's still way off. Judging by comments in press conference today. May come a point where it's not worth risking him at the end of the season.

Didn’t Potter mention a couple of weeks? I imagine that if things are going ok we may take the option of not risking things towards the end of the season. Helpful that Gross at right wing back and Moder at left wing back gives us the option of Dunk, White and Veltman at the back with Burn as cover.

Hopefully he’ll be back in time for sheff Utd , that’s a game we may need to win and will take any pressure off if we don’t get anything from Utd or Chelsea .

Yes. He did. So he’s clearly - according to Potter - not out for the season after all and thus this thread is now misleading to say the least.

So, and as I pointed out, when Potter said he'd be back after the international break, it transpires not to be immediately after the international break. Now saying a couple of weeks away at the earliest.

Club shared video of him training yesterday and Naylor reporting he’s in contention for Everton . Probably too early but either way he’s clearly - assuming it continues to go ok - not out “for the rest of the season” as a few on this thread were eager to believe and share on here and he will be back for the business end of the season (thankfully).

That was his first training session outside back. As I said - they were pretty 50/50 on the damage to his ligaments about surgery that would have ruled him out.

Webster was in contention for Player of the Season before his injury but I cannot see any reason to rush him back. Veltman has been terrific at CB and Potter is never one to risk players to greater injuries

To quote

“I heard he was out for the season 3 weeks ago” ...sounded pretty definite not just possible :)

Yes - at the time it seemed like he was going to have surgery on it. Someone from his immediate family volunteered it up but I'm not the type to keep asking for updates or other info

We’re missing Veltman at RWB. Thought he was better there.

I don't think we are. Gross has been excellent in that position and it allows Lallana to also be in the team, along with Trossard and Welbeck and Maupay. We need Gross for the set pieces, but we also need those other players to ensure the team can create enough chances and be a threat in the final third. Gross also adds a whole lot of creativity from RWB, he can run all game long and defensively he's mature and astute. He looks an absolute natural at RWB which you would never have previously guessed, fair play to Potter for the vision to play him there and the coaching of the player to highlight his strengths in the position.

Gross seems to be turning into Paul Watson reincarnated

I thought that Rashford's goal on Sunday came because of a big hole where a RB/RWB would have been.

Veltman was fab at RWB but the injury to March & Webster has forced Potter to change his set up and our defensive 5 has shifted to a back 4 and then to an impressive 3-5-2 formation at Old Trafford. I wouldn't be rushing anyone back at the moment with the team looking very fluid and balanaced

Get Webby back in if fit. Veltman terrific at RWB and we need extra height against Everton.
