Remind me of the season when Connolly scored 28 (twenty eight) goals in a season.
Have you made your player comparison based on them both being relatively short?

11 goals in half a season in PL2, and PL2 player of the year (ahead of Eddie Nketiah) - yeh, you're right, he's useless.

He scored 28 Championship goals and 5 assists last season?

Maupay scored 25 Championship goals and 8 assists in the season before he joined us.

How would this be a significant improvement?

Maupay was playing for a promotion chasing Brentford being supplied by Benrahma(sp?) and Watkins. My guess would be that if Armstrong had that kind of artillery he’d have scored even more.

Please highlight where I’ve said Connolly is useless?

Also, do you think comparing reserves/u-23 football and Championship football is fair?

The extra pace is pretty useless against a low block. Our issues last season mostly amounted to a failure of overcoming bottom 6 sides, most of whom played the low block. I’d prefer a bit of height, muscle and cute play to a speed merchant like Armstrong.

Teams could play a low block as they knew we were utterly horrific in front of goal and guilty of overplaying, no chance they can do that if we have a goal scorer.

I disagree. Part of the problem we had against the low block last season was all our attacking players being very one paced and having to continually knock the ball around the area to try and find that little bit of space that way. Having someone who can burst away from defender in tighter spaces would be a game changer for us. He is electric.

He scored 20 in 40 in 2016. His record is a bit up and down but he’s still quite young. I wouldn’t be disappointed if we signed him.

Nor would I. Although it is a punt. And I would prefer a Muzza 2.

11% upshift in goals so close to an extra goal?

OK, you didn't specifically say he was useless, but "Remind me of the season when Connolly scored 28 (twenty eight) goals in a season" is pretty dismissive. And it is also relevant thhat Connolly hasn't yet been given a chance to score 25 goals in senior football.
And two years ago, the judges for PL2 player of the year rated him ahead of Eddie Nketiah, who some on here seem quite keen on.

I've got a mate who drives past Ewood Park on a daily basis and he reckons he's shitehouse.

I’ve no interest in Nketiah, players develop at different ages so comparing awards for kids seems futile.
Connolly needs time to develop, probably in the Championship, not just to refine ability etc but rebuild his confidence. He has 5 senior goals for Brighton on 40+ appearances, certainly nothing Earth shattering.

Well, we're in absolute agreement about his need for a loan! Even League 1 would be fine - possibly even better - the important thing would be banging in goals for fun again and regaining his scoring mojo.

How many of those were sub appearances ? or playing on the left ?...

Im not saying a loan to a champ side would not be a good idea if Mr Potter thinks it is, but i certainly wont be sad if he is in our squad next season each match day

Yes, when Aaron has been fit, GP has looked to get him minutes, which says to me GP sees some promise there.

Anyone thinking sending Connolly down to the championship, let alone League 1, will benefit him really hasn't grasped the situation.
