Vale wont match our GD so 3 it is.

we want to finish 4th as i would rather swindon than QPR/BC.

Luton can get 74 points as they've got 4 games left, so we need 4 more points to be sure - assuming they don't suddenly match our goal difference, which is unlikely.

Because of everyone elses form being indifferent does anyone think that we could scrape a play-off place if we only get 1 point from our remaining games. Can the teams just below us get the results they will need to overhaul us if we did. They all look very nervous to me.

We'll need 73 points minimum, but we'll get 74 and we'll play Swindon Town in the play-off semis. If we only get 73 points, we'll be playing Bristol City in the semis.

My predicted end of season top nine:-

1 Plymouth 86 (draw v QPR; draw at Hartlepool; win v Colchester)
2 QPR 82 (draw at Plymouth; draw v Swindon; win at Sheffield Wednesday)
3 Bristol City 82 (win v Albion; draw at Barnsley; win v Blackpool)
4 Swindon Town 77 (win v Oldham; draw at QPR; draw v Hartlepool)
5 ALBION 74 (defeat at Bristol City; win v Notts Co; draw at Wrexham)
6 Hartlepool 74 (win at Rushden; draw v Plymouth; draw at Swindon)
7 Port Vale 73 (win at Notts Co; win v Tranmere; win at Rushden)
8 Luton Town 72 (draw v Bournemouth; win at Wrexham; win v Sheffield Wednesday; win at Chesterfield)
9 Bournemouth 71 (draw at Luton; win at Peterborough; win v Stockport; win at Brentford)

Trust me LB it wont be anything like as tight as that. There is no way the teams outside the zone will get that many points.

Agreed. I also can't see, on current form, that we are going to be the only team to lose a game. Bournemouth, Luton and Port Vale especially are looking well dodgy.

think you have been a bit generous to vale, luton and bournmouth. i do think 1 win would be enough for us to get in playoffs. thats gotta be notts co at home. cannot see us getting anything at brizzle, maybe a draw at best.

Fair comment. I like my predictions to be pessimistic. That way I can breathe sighs of relief when Rushden tonk Port Vale (or whatever).

If you want the optimistic version ... we've already got enough points to qualify for the play-offs. We can happily lose to Bristol City, Notts County and Wrexham.

But does that give anyone any comfort?

I thought not.

Let's just hope we get the MonkeyHangers at Cardiff, we could smash them!

There's the little matter of a couple of games against an in form side before then.

What makes you think Britsol or qpr would not smash them before hand they are the weakest of the four

Just imagine that Plymouth beat QPR and we beat Bristol City.

That could make it a very tense, tight last two games with 4 points from 2nd to 5th!

Quite frankly I'd rather avoid Swindon we never seem to do well at their place and they should have beaten us at home this year. (I know Milner ran the show at our place)

Hartlepool may appear to be the weakest team in the play-off places, but they are the team coming into form at the right time. And, as everyone knows, it is end-of-season form, not over-the-full-length-of-the-season form which matters come the play-offs.
