A defender, similar to the contribution players like Guy Butters, Danny Cullip & Andy Crosby have offered us. One that can coach and nuture Elphick etc, one that can calm and direct the play.

A Midfielder, similar to Charlie Oatway or Richard Carpenter. One that can win the ball, hold the ball, distribute the ball and hit the f**king ball striaght with power!

A striker, similar to ONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THE F**KING GOAL LOOKS LIKE!

Tonight we were really poor, lacked direction and looked impotent in front of goal.

and all for £400 a year, 'kin rubbish!

It is true we need at least 4 players , the spine of the team is that of a jellyfish

Charlton were not very good but we didn't make their keeper make a save until 90th minute

dont go then, simple

Nice idea ... unfortunately it's hard to break a habit started back in '77. I say this because I care, I say it because this is a forum and it's starts a debate (or binfest, whichever takes your fancy).

We look the worst w ehave for at least the last ten years, what the f**k can be done? Will TB have money to give to Gus in January?

Good Goalkeeper needed, end of career good central defender, captain fantastic type in midfield and a stirker (as good as Forster has been he's off the pace but still our most threatening)

You failed to add that when you paid your £400 you didnt expect these inept performances you had hope and expectations.

Oh I agree with you exactly but would add a right back to the list as Whing is poor and Hoyte since coming back from suspension is hardly any better.

the team lack one think and its been obvious for months!!

WE NEED A LEADER!!!

when goals are conceded and mistakes happen on the field no one rallies the team. no one shouts and directs...

we have undoubtly got a good enough squad to stay in this league if not finish top ten but until someone takes the bull by the horns it will never happen and i think Gus knows this hencehe hasnt confirmed a permenant skipper as yet!!

tonight there number 4 Bailey is a prime example! shouting, pointing, organising, arguing and showing that he would die for the team.. They were poor but that was the difference tonight!

Why should we nurture Elphick? Tunnicliffe is the future, not Elphick. Get an experienced man to play alongside Tunnicliffe.

You are right Tunnicliffe is thefuture we are more concerned with the present and due to his lack of experience he has cost us dearly and must be played with caution and monitored not just thrown in as an expected saviour.

Elphick was superb in his first few seasons.

Tunnicliffe has also been very good. in the handful or so of games he has played. If you had seen Elphick in his player of the year season, you would be saying the same thing about him.

Jumping to conclusions, I feel.

surely its a confidence thing. in a winning side someone will make a challenge instead of backing off maybe fearing a booking or giving a penalty. in a winning side they may look to play football instead of hoofing it anywhere. for two years we have been a losing side, cant string more than a win or two together, if we can change that then who knows. some very winnable games coming up. it has to start saturday and go on into the new year, a five or six unbeaten run will do wonders for the players confidence.

I did see Elphick in his player of the season year (I have been watching the Albion for in excess of 30 years, thank you) and to me Tunnicliffe shows more promise than Elphick ever did AND is currently a better defender then Elphick

You are right Tunnicliffe is thefuture we are more concerned with the present and due to his lack of experience he has cost us dearly and must be played with caution and monitored not just thrown in as an expected saviour.
But presently we do not have any defenders better than Tunnicliffe - what should we do, not play him so that we don't fracture his confidence? No, he should play as he is the best defender we have. Hopefully, Gus will sort our formation out and/or bring in an experienced pro to play alongside Tunnicliffe.

I would disagree with you about him being the best central defender. I was at home ill and only saw last nights goals on ITV but it appearred that it was Tunnicliffe who the attacker beat to head the goal and it was also Tunnicliffe that missed the tackle on the 2nd goal. I think that he is a terrific prospect but he is making mistakes and it is costing us goals. So I think we need an experienced central defender brought in initially to play with Elphick and on occassions Tunnicliffe. I cannot believe that Virgo has dropped off so much and am not sue what the answer is with him.
