Right here, right now
Haven't seen the goals on TV yet BG but yes, I would agree that he is far from the finished article. However, with Virgo seemingly so far out of sorts that Gus has (rightly IMHO) dropped him to the bench, and Elphick struggling with confidence so much that hoofball is all he seems capable of, Tunnicliffe at least provides a glimpse of what we are in possession of viz a vie a talented central defender. Yes he makes mistakes but hopefully he is learning by them. Elphick and Virgo do not seem able to do this.

Would I be wrong to think that a worthwhile combo would be Tunnicliffe and Wright, based on the players we currently have available? Even, (prepares to be shot at dawn) a Tunnicliffe/Hawkins combo? Hawkins showed potential in his first few games ie before his injury and, with the crowd behind him (if that could ever happen) I'm sure he would be an assett.

I just think Tunnicliffe has more positives than Elphick at this moment in time.

A defender, similar to the contribution players like Guy Butters, Danny Cullip & Andy Crosby have offered us. One that can coach and nuture Elphick etc, one that can calm and direct the play.

A Midfielder, similar to Charlie Oatway or Richard Carpenter. One that can win the ball, hold the ball, distribute the ball and hit the f**king ball striaght with power!

i was expecting Virgo to be that defender, he has enough experience. shame it's not worked out like that, and i partially blame Micky Adams (yes) for his insistance to play him every game but anywhere but at CB. I also partially blame Virgo who has not appeard to have stepped up though.

as for the midfielder, some rose tinted memory of Oatway there  but he was certainly a leader and we are apparently missing that more.

Whether Tunnicliffe or Elphick we still need an old and bold in defence.

Oatway, yes slightly rose tinted but hey, don't you love seeing someone who has passion, desire and will die for the club ... I admit the midfield general may have lacked some strategy but strategy never one the actual battle (Oops but did win the war)

I want players who are proud to pull on the shirt not see it as a chore or a right ...
