I have some mates who were in the South stand when we played Liverpool and they reckoned that is sounded really intimidating when we sang it that evening.

i think the biggest problem with this tune amongst our fans, is that so few actually sing the words that it dies a death (acoustically) in between the wooah-oh-oh bit.
it may not sound like that to those in amongst it, but i can say that from my view in WSU (towards north) the words have been barely audible all season

edit: with the exception of Sussex by the SEA SEA SEA which used to sound quality - but now not so much.

It was being sung just in front on me in the North on Saturday, and just behind (less than 10 rows in it)... and the two groups were about two seconds out of time.
