Sky are starting with their oldest customers, then improving the firmware, then rolling it out with their next oldest customers and so on. I've had HD for 10 months now and am still waiting for the new EPG, and am getting frustrated. Not just for the hd football on itv, but I really miss, from when I had virgin media, the ability to get the information for the programme highlighted on the now and next tv guide bar, instead of only being able to get the info for what you're watching (without leaving what you're watching).

It's a bad situation where you are paying money to SKY yet you could not get this match in HD.

On the other hand about 2 months ago I stuck up a dish, got a Freesat HD box and was able to watch the match in HD last night for nothing.

I'm not smarting here, I would be bloody annoyed if I was paying SKY.

What make of HD box do you have? I recently had a replacement box installed and having had the new EPG on my previous box this came with the old one. I used a forced software download (which took about 15 minutes and didn't wipe the hard disk) and the new EPG was there once I'd finished.

Why?

It's ITV's choice when to go HD on SKY,as SKY subscribers we don't pay for ITV. Also as already said, if we do the workaround we can get ITV HD through the test channel as long as we have the new EPG which is being rolled out. Some won't have it, but it's coming. As soon as all subscribers have it then ITV HD will be launching on the SKY box.

I got Sky in June and still don't have the new EPG. Do you have the instructions to do the forced download?

thanks

If you have a Thomson box it's unplug from mains press & hold back up on front of reciever, then re-connect mains keeping finger on back up until all four lights come on on the front of the box. You get a message on the screen telling you a software update is in progress and not to turn the box off. After about 10 minutes or so it completes. I was then told to leave it for a couple of minutes before turning on. Once I did so the new EPG was there. The guy at Sky also said that it may force the new EPG but not guaranteed!

* I am not a TV engineer so use these instructions at your own risk!

Sky recently rolled out the new epg to some more samsung boxes. I got an email yesterday saying mine will be comng soon (targetted email, not a blanket one). Checking on digital spy forum suggests lots of people with samgsung version 004 got them overnight last night. I don't turn my TV on in the mornings, so am looking forward to getting home and seeing if I have it. Fingers crossed!

Our HD box upgraded last night but not the SKY plus box.

Or son who is 5 is well confused with the new menu system. He has only just fully mastered the old setup.

Is there any news on the Amstrad boxes? I've got one of those when I got Sky in June.

According to one of the posts on the digital spy forums amstrad will get their's in november. Though there's no source for it, and there's still other versions of samsung to go in the next week or so.

It's only the sky hd+ boxes that are recieving the upgrade. Sky+ and regular sky boxes keep the old one. At least for now.
