How do you get the new EPG (or know if you have it)? I've only had Sky HD for a week or so.

New EPG has picture-in-picture when looking at listings.

Ah I see, I don't have that as yet.
The new EPG is a bit fiddly at first but the planner is much easier to use and it lumps all the programmes from a series in one place instead of sorting it by date.

No , the epg updates are being rolled out on a manufacturer by manufacturer basis , with the first batches initially tied to individual model series from Thomson (4E004 , 4E3006 , 4E3007 etc), when this was considered a stable release the next boxes dones were Pace. Samsung and finally Amstrad boxes are next in line to be done.

Don't think so. I haven't had a new card yet but got the new EPG just before the champs league semis

No , the new white cards are a completely different issue. Sky uses NDS encryption and as part of that agreement they have to renew the cards every 5 years or so. The reason the cards were not renewed last year was to wait for C4 and five to end their broadcasting agreement with Sky and allow them time to go "free to air". Now C4 and five are "free to air" Sky do not have to replace former subscribers cards with new ones as C4 and five previously needed a card as they were "free to view".

It's not officially available on SKY HD boxes at the moment, that's why we have the workaround.

You will only get it with the new EPG guide, if yours hasn't been updated then it's crappy ITV pics until then.
You can't update it yourself, SKY are still rolling it out.
