More money is probably wasted on red tape etc than is actually pumped into the health of patients.

Chapman - your mum is obviously doing a great job, and i have great respect for some people who work in the NHS (as i know people who do) but i bet for everyone like your mum, there are 2/3 people who do nothing to warrant a job. I'd rather have less management and more cleaners etc.

My sister in law works in the NHS and she says that there is too much wasted cash, desk size within the executive areas is a status symbol for a start.

You are a complete idiot. I am NOT a racist! I asked you to pick out any comment that i have made which is racist and you can't. For the simple reason that i haven't made one. And half my family weren't born in this country, so i'm not likely to be anti foreigners either.

I don't care what colour or race anyone in this country is, so long as they earn their money i don't have a problem them being here. I have just as much contempt for an English citizen sitting on his arse all day claiming the dole as i would an immigrant from elsewhere.

Get rid of some of the pen pushers and less money would be going down the toilet.

Now, you're speaking sense. I remember the new Chief Executive of Guy's Hospital was given a company car. Whatever for? London Bridge Station is just across the road. One of the real problems is that the Tories privatised hospital cleaning and replaced it with a bunch of contractors coming in at the lowest price, meaning that staff are totally de-motivated. It's the same at the Houses of Parliament, where the cleaners have just gone on strike to get a decent wage. Labour has done nothing to correct this fault. Mind you, the idea that all nurses are angels is clearly not the case. My uncle was treated very badly before he died, being put in a geriatric ward in a nissen hut, with nurses who seemed totally uninterested in him or any other patient.

A friend ofmine is a trainee nurse in Stoke. Her granma recently passed away due to an absess on her bowel. The reason she died was the fact she was put on the wrong ward, and didn't get the treatment she needed.
