Name me another site that had a train station within a goal-kicks distance.

Its not the clubs fault that SASTA has crumbled to shit, post-covid in particular.

Following the ‘abysmal’ transport threads…was there a better site (for the ground) than Falmer and if so where was it?

To answer my own question, I would say yes and probably Toads Hole Valley (given the proximity to Hove and Preston Park) which is now highly likely to be developed…regs differed at that time though I assume.

To some who read NSC this question is on a par with 'would we of got into the Premiership quicker if we had stuck with Archer?'

Very much this. Most other developed nations will increase the rail service for events, the UK does the opposite. It’s the London to Brighton bike ride, let’s ban bikes instead of putting on extra bike carriages. Its the Stamner Park music festival, let’s close Falmer because it will be too busy. Etc etc.

There are terrible issues with trains at Toads Hole Valley which would cost millions to resolve.

Yes, that's all very well, but if decisions were logical, we didn't have awkward buggers who do the opposite of sensible, and everything works smoothly, we wouldn't be in England, would we?

This this this. Open your eyes a bit and we’d all have to admit that in any other country Falmer station would have been massively beefed up to cope from a facility first built in the Victorian period for a small rural Downland village.

In this great country however Falmer station boasts nothing extra than a bridge built out of Meccano which is definitely starting to sag in the rain.

I’ve kinda had it up to here watching the elderly leaning on their walking sticks for over an hour because the first set of P&R buses are gone by the time you’ve walked down from the WSU. And yes some of this also falls to the club: not to admit that is just stupid.

Shame all the land currently being redeveloped around the back of Hove station (Sackville Road) was not available at the time. Right next to the old Goldstone ground and Hove station perfectly positioned.

Corals stadium site would have been ideal as well.

Sadly always going to be housing as that is where the land value is.

Land reclamation from the sea is the only way. Then we can build a huge stadium with car park and a train station underneath

Extend a couple of rail tracks and some road straight down from Brighton station but underground to directly below the new two tier north stand. Also a pedestrian tunnel from the Old Steine for bus passengers, with a dedicated bicycle lane of course

Leave boxes of chips out on the roof above the away end just before the game to turn the stadium into a COULDRON of seagulls for kick off

Well, it’s a bit ruddy late to ask this now..
We have what we have , which is an excellent stadium. It is a pity that it could not be closer to town but this is Brighton- there ‘s not a lot of room available.
The answers are to improve the rail service not second guess the stadium.
Let’s face it the whole rail service for everyone is pants at the moment...
