Watching on a stream yesterday and they seem it could’ve been. Didn’t think it was during real time. Reading the uothecherries forum, they seem to think it was.

It wasn't a stonewaller, but could have been given. I don't think it was enough for VAR to overturn. It wasn't as bad as the foul on Mac Alliser, which should have been overturned.

And this:
If a player launching himself into the middle of Welbecks back isnt a pernalty then a shoulder to shoulder bump certainly isnt

It was an exact replica of when Welbz got barged by Matic I think for the dippers and that was ruled no penalty, so same outcome.
There has to be consistency

Just watching the 30 minutes highlights from sky sports. It's side to side, Estupinian isn't trying to win the ball, and his shoulder is a little lower than the Bournemouth player's, so not sure I'd say it was quite shoulder-to-shoulder. He blocks the attacker and muscle him away from the ball. There is a slight bit of forward movement with his arm into the side of the attacker, but not any real force or particular violence, more shaking him off. To me, that is the key thing here - there isn't enough force or violent for it to be anything more than outmuscling the attacker.

We see such challenges ignored all over the pitch and tell the outmuscled player they just weren't strong enough.

I genuinely cannot remember the Welbeck incident some peole are comparing it to.

Just seeing the Veltman incident by the dugout. Never a foul. He felt a hand on his back and threw himself to the ground.

No intention or chance to win the ball, definitely a penalty, exactly the same not given on Welbeck a few weeks ago so at least there's a bit of consistency in the ineptitude of refereeing, because anywhere else on the pitch that challenge is a no questions asked free kick

We all felt the Welbeck one was a penalty and this was the same
I agree with this BUT there seems to be some consistency now. Seems as though you can’t give a penalty unless there are arms or legs involved (Although replays showed Welbeck was actually kicked as well as pushed).

Sorry is this the Estupinan barge, or handball?

I didn't think either were.
Possibly blue-tinted specs, but the barge was pretty standard "strength", the other was ball to hand, with arms in normal position.

Not for me Clive.

I haven't seen any of the game back but I felt there was a handball. I was so certain of it that I'd literally resigned myself to it being a penalty and couldn't quite believe it when the game restarted.

That's not a penalty with the new hand ball rules.

Me too, but having seen it back, it was clearly ball to hand, with arms in a natural position.

As others have said, if it was given on field it wouldn't have been overturned I don't think. But given the shove into Welbeck's back wasn't given the other week, it's swings and roundabouts
