As Leader of the Council better than previous incumbents but not my cup of tea . If you go to bed with property firms you don't let them pee all over you.

Where is that idiot now, I heard he was off to some other Council busily ruining that!

He went off and became some 'business advisor' at Crunch the accountants ( quite what Darren Fell saw in him I'm not sure ) and then he went of to work for some council ( in Essex ? ). Out of any local politician we've ever had I don't think we've had such a two faced, arrogant, useless, lying, ratty politician. His brain dead wife wasn't far behind him though.

Complete and utter rubbish. The bloke is as far removed from being a Tory as you can get. His Labour credentials are rock-solid. Actually, the reason why he made so many tough and unpopular decisions was that he was having to clear up the mess that your beloved Greens made when they were "running" the town.

When the Greens took over in 2011 Brighton was ranked 322nd out of 358 for recycling, when they left in 2015 we'd dropped to 337th. That's worse than Tower Hamlets. The best chance your party has had of proving that it's not just a bunch of yoghurt knitters but a credible party with new and innovative ideas and you failed on making us more environmentally-friendly. It's your raison d'etre for Christ's sake. Utter shambles.

One major factor in that failure was the open warfare with Mark Turner GMB leader and his bin men. And who is it that has been one of Warren Morgan's fiercest critics within the local party and stands to increase his political clout? The very same Mark Turner - a man who has proven that he's willing to let this town become a rubbish tip if it suits.

Give me one Warren Morgan over a hundred of your useless Green councillors any day of the week.

This in spades. God help us if we get Momentum or the Greens again.

This is symptomatic of a wider problem in politics and service. There's such a polarisation of views now, both between the Tories and Labour, and within both parties that all the leaders can do is jockey for power. May isn't delivering Brexit, she's mediating in an inter-party war. Labour aren't providing an opposition either, it's just Corbyn-Or-Lump-It and their own Brexit policy seems to change with the wind. Local and national services are suffering as a result of blatant partisanship and popularism where ideology trumps everything. This is why there's room for the centre, this is why Macron got in in France - because the compromise needed to hold the centre ground means that public servants actually deliver public service instead of self-serving ideology box-ticking and plays for personal power.

Good luck Warren - you were too good for this City.

Oh he's definately made some mistakes ... the King Alfred debacle for one. The council decisions became much more secret under Morgan which has done nothing for council transparency. It can't be coincidence that he's announced his leaving straight after a huge rise in council tax - something he absolutely slammed the Greens for trying to do yet both were working under government cuts.

I forgot the behind the door secret planning decisions overriding earlier decisions.

I thought Brighton was above that though, with many non-Greens being grown up enough to recognise and acknowledge that Caroline Lucas is a good constituency MP.

There are a few utter ***** about, as we saw early on in this thread, but I thought most were able to remove party blinkers.

Mark Turner was, is and always will be a complete bellend only interested in his own doctrinaire agenda. A kind of dumbed down Owen Jones if you like.

Caroline gets re-elected now because she's done such a good job as local MP. My friend, a dyed-in-the-wool Tory votes for her - in a time of real crisis she was a real and positive help to him and his family. But she got in originally because there are just enough people in Brighton Pav who'd vote for a pig in a green rosette - exactly how the idiot Kitkat got in.

Good riddance to him , hopefully Kyle next

“I would have wished to lead the Labour group to a deserved win in next year’s elections before retiring in 2020. However, the local Labour Party and others have made it clear they do not want me to do so..."

This isn't a resignation, they've effectively sacked him.

Good riddance. Basically, a Tory with a red rosette.

Speaks volumes about you both.

There's a world of difference between Caroline Lucas and the Green councillors that ran B&H Council ..... thankfully !

The fact is ..there always has been good and bad Tory,Labour.Lib, Green etc etc councillors. Warren Morgan to me came across as being in the good camp..Not a green fan but Ollie Sykes is again one who comes across well.
I do believe there is a huge difference between what is needed at local government and national government. I would never vote Corbyn or indeed Lucas in General Election but locally always vote for person not party.
