Not so.

The only councillor on Brighton & Hove City Council to vote against the stadium was David Smith - a Conservative.

I stand corrected. I knew there was one but thought he was a Lib Dem. Innate prejudice I suppose.

Everything I state is true. Brighton supporters should remember what they did if they are thinking of voting Lib Dems. Our worst enemies could not have done more to hurt the club. Stanley, Archer, belloti lost us the Goldstone. The Lib Dems, in Lewes District Council and Norman Baker tried everything they could to stop us from getting a new one, abusing democracy and Council Tax money in the process. It shows them in their true light, fit to govern my ar5e.

re-read my post where i mentioned the tory candidate in Lewes, i have no intention of voting for Norm but would vote for Clegg in a 3 horse race

its true we wouldnt have got the stadium without labour in power, but are we to hold on to our liberal hatred til we die irrespective of any other aspect of our life being affected by politics? Ive always tried to vote to keep the tories out and as labour is a complete nonstarter in our area theres only one real alternative.

I sympathise with the Bexhill and battle dilemma cos thats my catchment too and i too used to vote liberal in eastbourne but what else can you do, i cant vote for a minority cos theyre a waste of time and we only get a chance once every 5 yrs it seems a shame to waste it. As for Eastbourne I think LLoyd has a cracking chance of beating Nigel Waterson and have read that the tories think its all but lost already, at least Lloyd lives in Eastbourne, unlike Waterson who resides in Bexleyheath!

When you go to vote you should think about how the Liberal Democrats you know have effected your life. David Belloti, Norman Baker and Lewes District Council. Have they made it better? Have they made it worse? I do.

Good point well made, but I just can't get the image of a Lib Dem delegate coming out of the Brighton Centre the day we protested and giving us all the V - Sign. Its the principle of the whole thing that got me, what the club are building encompasses all that is good about community, job creation and recreation its what Sussex has been crying out for for years, if thats not a good enough reason politically to oppose a bunch of Lib Dem nimbys then I don't know what is.

I'm in Eastbourne and despite having stood for election to the council twice under a Labour flag, I will vote for the Lib Dem to get Waterson out. After all, a few Lib Dems (with their own prejudices and agendas) may have tried to scupper our stadium but I can remember the Tories royally f***ing up our country so badly that in some areas we are still suffering.
If I still lived in Brighton, I'd vote Labour. If I lived in Lewes I'd set fire to myself outside the polling station.

Your choice is your choice obviously, but at the end of the day Clegg is a leader of a party that has done our club so much damage. I really do believe if it wasn't for Dick Knight literally pissing money down the drain on solicitors fees etc. fighting LDC (whom used council tax payers money) in every court case in every planning stage etc. etc. we would have gone under. Other individual's with less tenacity than Dick would have given up. it will be 14 years since we left the Goldstone before we get to Falmer (as can be seen on some of the threads here people have died waiting to get to a new home). Why should the Lib Dems be forgiven?

its 1 man not the entire party, i hate the fact the wait has been so long. But dont forget the old Brighton councils hand in this to, where they Libs? they blocked alot of moves for a ground in Brighton and Hove i seem to recall

I remember that none of the Lib Dumbs' leaders replied to any of the (non-abusive) letters I sent during our lengthy campaign for a new stadium. That alone makes them (Lib Dumbs) unworthy of my vote-if they can't be bothered to reply then I can't be bothered to vote for them. Like all politicians, when it comes down to it, all they're interested in is what they can squeeze out of the system. They don't give a shit about anything other than getting elected.

What ARE you on about?

Exactly Belloti, Norman Baker, Lewes District Council (how many Lib Dem councilors on there?) these individuals actions show what the people that represent the Lib Dems are like (not former PR man Nick Clegg). Good for me and you? Make your life better? Well that is up for you to decide.

Personally I'm a natural Lib Dem voter and I'd probably still vote even if the candidate was Norman Baker.

I guess, in the end, it depends on whether you can get beyond where he stood on the issue of Falmer. Personally, I can, but fully respect those who can't.

Can you not read? the Brighton council blocked using the greyhound gaff, waterhall etc did they not?

Ok I agree, but after a long " consultation" period it was tended to agree that Falmer was the best site, there was a massive approval in a public vote, didn't the Labour run Brighton district council say it was fine but because a small bit of the ground (maybe even the car park) that stradled in Lewes District Council jurisdiction the Liberal Democrat party then wasted 5+ years taking us through every planning stage in the land hoping we would go bust while abusing council tax payers money in the process.
