Calderon offered £15k a week? I thought football clubs paid the players, not the other way round.

I hope that figure of 15k is fabricated because I think i'd completely lose faith in englsih football if that were the case.

I thought that ' people in the know' said Forster was on £8k per week and I was told today that Virgo was the highest paid so if that is true he must have been on £8k at least.

Is there not a FL rule that says the wages for the season must be linked to the income.

Whats annoying is the fact that Southampton FC at the start of this season had a Save Our Saints campaign and thought that they were stuffed.A couple of weeks later they were splashing out £1m on Lambert.

As far as I'm aware, that is something that some people bandy around as a sensible plan that should be in place, but it isn't yet.

I agree. It's terrifying if it's true but that kind of money would explain his sudden disloyalty. That's obscene for this division and probably more than 90% of Championship players.

Squad salary caps up to maximum of 50% of turnover? If teams want to pay more they get fined same again and owner has to actually put money INTO the club rather than borrow against it.

£15K a week sounds a lot even for the Championship. Those figures don't look right at all. I'd be amazed if anyone at the Albion was on more than £5000 a week.

Nobody has offered Calderon £15k, it's just childish speculation by people seeking attention. However, it would be no surprise if a larger club came in for him. Memories of Gotsmanov!!!!

We offered £5k and they offered £15k? What a load of crap! Why would you offer 3 times the offer that was already on the table? Surely double or even less would have been enough if Calderon is so just after more money. Maybe he has just worked out that whatever TB said about promotion next season, Calderon could see we simply haven't got the financial clout to mount a realistic promotion challenge? Certainly the 11 that started today won't get anyway near the playoffs!
