I agree with the posters about providing the right service to the right player(s).

I have some sympathy for CMS (or whoever our strikers are) because we could play Messi up front on his own but even he would would struggle if he isn't given the ball in the right areas or doesn't get support quickly enough, so often look isolated. With Vicente available to play the defence splitting pass we should be capable of creating more chances. Can't see Gus fundamentally changing how we line up and move the ball forward but maybe there will be a few tweaks to our offensive play this season?

Worth a crack. Never really given a chance to settle at Wolves, constantly being loaned out during the formative years of his career. He is a player crying out for a chance to settle somewhere. With stability and the right coaching, he'll come good.

For me Vokes did a good solid job for us in the role we asked him to play (unlike BDB)... nicked a few goals too... rather we brought him in, and spent most of our money on the powerful midfielder we so desperately need...

Nah don't rate him. Looked a bit lazy to me. Would rather we gave Hoskins a good crack (if he can stay fit)

I really hope Hoskins gets a chance and takes it this season. We paid quite a lot for him and have not had much of a return on our investment yet. Selling him shows that we shouldn't have bought him in the first place.

Sam Vokes will sign for Burnley or another un named Championship club soon for £500,000 other club thought to be Brighton

From twitter.

Hmmm, I'd rather not but he's not exactly a bad player, no improvement on what we've got though.

He's slightly different to what we already have but not a massive improvement so £500,000 seems a bit much. I wouldn't mind if we did sign him but I doubt he is Gus' first choice

Not for me. He's not a bad player and I think he will be a success in the Championship, but he isn't better than CMS, Barnes or Hoskins IMHO, so not convinced it would be worth signing him.

He is a good honest pro but going forward we really need to be looking at better players. Could see Palace going for him.

contrary to a lot on here, think he's worth a punt for that money, a (nearly) full pre-season under his belt, with the security he might need at that age, could be beneficial to both sides.

I disagree. IMHO he was on a par with BDB who wasn't as bad as people made out.

Whilst I agree Paynter wasn't as bad as people made out, there is absolutely no way he was on a par with Vokes. Vokes was very good in the air and could finish, Paynter could do neither.
