Yep. I dont have Tank as a named driver on my car cos they wanted an extra £1000 for the pleasure and my insurance is under 500 quid! :eek:

But is that due to Tank's occupation or level of driving skill??

Occupation.

Hes only ever had one claim before and that was because some arsehole vandalised his car and smashed the windscreen in the car park at Gillingham FC while he was training!

Don't most players chuck as much cas as possible into their pension schemes.

I believe they can officially retire at 35?

Mind you Rooney did misunderstand the pension thing.

Anyway Virgs was always skint after paying his hairgel bill.

Andy Booth was on £10k a week when he was with Huddersfield in (the equivalent of) League Two. Half a million quid a year for a Fourth Division footballer! Which is over twice as much as the Prime Minister earns. Whatever your politics, which of the two really earns his salary??

It was a legacy from when Huddersfield were two leagues higher, and part of the reason they nearly went bust.

He had to take a massive pay cut to stay with them. Think he's still there now.

this may have been posted during the time but was flicking through an old copy of zoo at work today and it had a feature on how much footballers at different levels earned. the championship offering was from the then brighton player adam virgo. he was on 75k but the average champ wage is around 200k. i have to say i was amazed at this. couldn't believe there was still so much money around even in the second tier of english football. i shudder to think of the aggregate earnings in this industry.

I wrote that piece, and that's what he said he was on. Although he could've been lying I suppose.

Albion v Wrexham,16/11/60 (First ever League Cup game at the Goldstone;

"Financially,I'm glad to say,each player will benefit by this afternoon's match to the extent of at least £3.To the winners a bonus of £8 is payable by the club,so it is possible for the participants of the winning team to receive £11 extra to their basic wage...........If our boys are successful the wage packet for those taking part in both the Luton and this afternoon's match will be £35........it is nice to see the players get a little extra remuneration,provided they give entertainment value to supporters.

They lost,2-0.
