With no disrespect intended, I doubt Virgs will be on many clubs' shopping lists.

Adams and DK gave him a big contract. As such he may have to take a pay cut if he left unless we gave him a few quid to go. As such you cant blame him staying until the end of the contract unless the deal is right. As Zebedee says, he is unlikely to b high on shopping list of clubs with goodish money to spend on wages

Can everyone just look at the club site article from yesterday, then get over the Virgo out bollocks and be grateful that he wants to play for us still after all the shit that's been posted on here recently (I'm thinking as a true boyhood fan he may even visit this den of dissatisfaction?).

"Adam Virgo has quashed speculation surrounding his future, and told the club's official website he wants to stay with the club and fight for his place.

He said, "I want to fight for my place at the club I grew up with. I would be lying if I said I was happy with how things have gone in recent months, but that is part and parcel of the game.

"Tommy, James and Adam have all done well at centre half, and I respect the gaffer's decision, but I will be patient and when the opportunity arises, hopefully I can take my chance."

Virgo also laughed off speculation that he was saying goodbye to the fans when he threw his shirt to a young fan at Wycombe.

"A friend asked me for the shirt, and I had agreed to give it to them. I saw them in the crowd and gave it to them.

"I've done that before, a couple of times this season - but with the transfer window coming up, I can understand the confusion.""

Mate you can agree or not but people are allowed to look at things differently to you. Virgo has been garbage since he came back, he was never good enough for Celtic reserves, so that is why people question why they spent 1.5 Million (the same we got for Zamora) for him, and when a player says he will "fight for his place", it often means that no other club will come in for him and match his wages.

So you didn't see the end of last season then when Virgo and Elphick's partnership were one of the reasons we recovered near the end and stayed up. I don't understand why you would question Celtic spending £1.5 million on him, why not just accept it was a fantastic deal for us and a great bit of business by Dick Knight. To us he was probably that important and I think if he had stayed we would have had more chance of staying up the season after.

I accept it was fantastic business by DK .. crickey if you can get £1.5 Million from Celtic for a defender who at the time was not Brighton's best but who did well when stuck up front as a target man, then it has to be fantastic business. But questions my friend, oh yes you have to look at that transfer with a raised eyebrow and the question of, eh how the bloody hell did that happen!? End of last season, yes they scraped themselves out of their own hole that they made, no brownie points for that im afraid.

Why should there be no praise for the end of last season. Virgo has had a mixed spell since returning but he played all over the park under Adams and then in Slade's early spell. When moved to centre half on a regular basis at the end of last season he played really well so he should definitely get credit for that. Our defence looked most secure last season when Virgo was playing centre half.

As for Virgo's transfer, why do you need to raise eyebrows. We wanted to keep Virgo so turned down their offers, Strachan had seen Virgo a few times, really rated him and wanted him to sign for Celtic. A lot of Championship players cost a lot more than £1.5 million these days so I don't understand why you have to question it.

DK was all too often villified for being all powerful but it seems now that the same detractors want to divest him of the credit for a deal that, at the time, secured the financial security of the club. Fans?................... Shame on you! :wrong:

OK mate lets agree to differ. No poit going around in circles. I dont agree with you. Ive nowt against Virgo, but I do raise a big eyebrow at paying £1,5 Mil for him when he was not even the albions best defender at the time. For me its the case that he was poor for most of last year and has been so bad this year that he is now out of a very poor back four and nobody will match his wages so of course he might want to fight for his place. But as they say, its a game of opinions and im a cynical soul

Just to say not to include me in that - in my view DK is our best ever chairman.
