Ok so it's clear to everyone under the sun that we need a new midfield.
Personally I think we are ok out wide once Joe is back from suspension and McLeod is fit again but the central midfiled is an embarrassment.

Assuming we can only get one new central midfield player in who would you replace Virgo or Thompson?

both.

fraser was the best player on the park yesterday. loft deserves a chance. livermore was good against scunthorpe and seems to be getting better.

virgo needs to either be dropped or play at right back. and thomson just doesn't seem to do anything..

I agree and that El Abd should be holding midfielder until such time as we can get a couple of midfielders in. Of what I saw at Yeovil Joe Anyinsah does not appear to be the answer to our midfield problems, he did nothing to inspire me but then again he did nothing much wrong either.

It is rather ironical that people are begining to say Virgo should be right back as i stated a month ago and got slagged off by people saying how good Whing was.

Thomson shouldn,t be in the midfield for a pub team, let alone the Albion.

Agreed. But assuming only ONE player is dropped - who would you rather?

I like the sound of this Thompson guy, lets just hope he's better than Thomson!

In all honesty, I thought Virgo made some decent passes yesterday and spread the ball well. That said, with Murray's virtually non-existent contribution, I would be tempted to push Virgo up front and give him licence to make his presence felt and hold the ball up (like Ricketts did so effectively for Warsaw). Thomson has had long enough to prove himself and has to be classed as a real disappointment. He possesses neither the guile to open up a defence, nor the Charlie/Chippy-style tenacity to dominate posession.

So I would move Virgo and drop Thomson. The question is, does Livermore and Fraser offer something better? From what I have seen so far, I doubt it. We badly need a new injection of talent in central midfield. If we can't bring anyone in, may be shifting Cox into a more central role might be an option. He certainly didn't look like a winger yesterday.....

They play in different ways, you may play one of them for certain games. I would understand if you had said who would you play CM or listed the whole team/squad

Agreed they play in different ways but the general consensus is that we need to sign a central midfielder. Given that Virgo and Thomson seem to be Adams' first choices I was wondering who people thought would give way to a new signing if one was made.

Not sure how this is pointless.
