We could do without this story getting all this publicity although I imagine that's exactly what the agent wants. Apparently he was the man of the match for Groningen, still think we'll get priced out of this one.

A defender isn't worth over £1m, if we've offered more than that they should take it.

How's that?

Those tweets read:
Success in England! Saw that the Brighton manager and your agent were there, so again, success.
Sell VVD for a good price, we might as well as we can consider our season as over.
BTW I'm not a Belgy! I just live here :)

Another blog post saying it wont happen.

After the defeat against FC Groningen NEC Hans Nijland has again indicated that he Henk Chin-Martin has indicated that it does not make sense that Brighton half bid. "The manager of Van Dijk us Saturday that there is a second bid is coming from Brigthon. Thereupon I said that it makes no sense, because we simply do not do it. We are not good for a sporty and we want our best player you can not lose ", as RTV Noord quotes the general manager of FC Groningen.
*
For his part to refute with certainty then: "If there is a ridiculously high bid comes then we'll consider it. But I can say with reasonable certainty that it is not going to happen."
*
Factually speaking says Hans Nijland now nothing but last Wednesday in the paper edition of International Football fell to read, read our article on 23 January
*
FC Groningen attracts transfer window no longer even on loan
Reinforcements will not arrive this month. Nijland: "Internally, we were there before the season already agreed. With this selection, we most driving in the left list. Rasmus Lindgren We have yet met, but that's it." Also EYE Radio and TV reported tonight on Twitter that all Robert Maaskant not expecting reinforcements, even a temporary additions to the selection on loan could strengthen. "Robert Maaskant not expect purchases now there are players left:" There is simply no money. "Also no salary space to hire someone."

Might be regurgitated though.

Conflicting reports, think this one may still happen

Would Gus bother going if there was no chance?

Then again Gronigon played him and risked him getting injured which would scupper any deal...

I've no idea what to make of it all

Defiance from them to play him, "we're happy to keep him, but LOOK at him! Bid LARGE". And by watching him again, I think Gus is stating his interest so Virgil is under no illusions that we are serious.

It'll come down to the money, it always does. Bloom wants us promoted ASAP from what I can tell, if Virgil is the man we'll get him.

FWIW a fair amount of tweets from FCGroningen tonight saying they will not sell in this transfer window.

I hope we have other options lined up.

This is not good. We needed a good CB, even before Greer was injured.
