Great day out went up on the Sussex express with a liverpool mate of mine . Couldnt work out as we went through Crew why there was a load of abuse and whatever else was being thrown at the train . Well not until i looked out the window towards the back of the train , only to see a chap hanging out the window with a flag singing GOSBTS at full wack . Also remember talking to one of the wpc's up there (a good looking one ) about the hilsbrough disater and how it had affected everyone .
Must get back in to going to away trips .
what's stopped you

I recall a Liverpool game at the Goldstone when Souness went off after 20 mins - I think it might have been an evening game - can anyone tell me the date? I think we won too.

Yep I was there, half way up left hand side.

I'm also struggling with the fact that was 20 years ago.

Our singing that day, to an ever dwindling Kop, will always be one of my finest Albion memories.

You are thinking about the fa cup game in 1984. You can find the entire ITV live coverage at Seagulls TV - Extras

The BBC sportsnight highlights of the 1991 replay are on there too!

Been doing the England thing, cos its got to be said away with England you do get some pretty interesting places( South Africa , Berlin , Amsterdam , Barcelona, Sevilla to name a few ). Mind you Denmark seemed to be closed the other day . That and money will only stretch so far .

Opps did i bite ?

What was the score in the replay at the Goldstone again? 3-2 defeat if I remember correctly....?

Pretty sure that is correct. Think it was 1-1 at full time and then we lead 2-1 at half time in extra time.

Winners played Everton and it had already been confirmed as being on telly. Think that game finished a draw but the reply was the famous 4-4 game I think.

Great vid though, remember the day well. I went on the Seagull Special from Hove station. Couple of observations:

Was Digweed a little bit mental? I used to love him but having watched a few of goldstone_rapper's videos recently he seems to have been a bit of headcase going on wild runs out of his box all the time!

Backpasses and the 5/6(?) step rule, seems an age ago since those rules changed.

Say what you like about Sky but they pretty much overnight improved the quality of football broadcasting.

That was taken from a Liverpool 'in house' match video.

Went with a university friend, driving from Nottingham. Can't believe that was half a lifetime ago now! Crumplin had a blinder that day.

Fantastic game

Had a couple of beers before the game and two Scousers we were chatting to sank seven pints of Guiness each, in about an hour ???

My sister came along, who was pregnant with my niece, who would always bang on about only ever having been to a Liverpool game in her mum's tum, as she ended up taking Liverpool as her team, after her dad

I did actually take her to see Pompey v. Liverpool a couple of years ago, so at least she can say she has seen Liverpool live. Torres obliged with an injury time winner down our end, in a 3-2 win

The replay at The Goldstone ended 3-2 to them, and I can still see McMahon poking the winner in front of The North Stand. The Liverpool supporting now ex-brother-in-law had an unwelcome smirk on his face at the final whistle :tosser:

One of the highlights of my Albion supporting life that day.

Took the 6.30 out of Horsham and got on it for the day. JCFG was immense, was that the day the JCFG t-shirts came out? Wonder how many previous times Liverpool had conceeded a 2 goal lead against a team from the division below?

The return train journey was one of the best sing-songs ever had on the train, coupled with a lot of British Rail Mackeowns exports

Happy Days.

Without doubt one of the best away games I've ever been to. I was behind the goal, and the moment when the ball was nodded back across goal to an onrushing Byrne is a picture in time that has remained frozen in my memory to this day. The ball just hanging there, Grobbellaar nowhere, Byrne diving header high into the net, BOOM.

Immense. Simply immense. Up until that moment, I don't think I'd EVER gone as utterly mental at an Albion goal as that one. And I don't think I did again, until Hereford.

As above. Got the sussex express up and then a huge convoy of double decker busses took us to the ground under police escort. Football genius totally outmarked the best player in Europe and the sight of Byrne's diving header will live with me to my dying day. Still probably my best away game ever.
