My grandson said Villarreal were shit - fair point, but I replied that probably our performance was that good that we made them look shit. The proof of the pudding will of course be how we fare against Everton next week.
Bit of both. Our pressing was so aggressive and effective they simply couldn’t get out………same for QPR last week. Interesting to see how it works against better teams, and Dycheball.

Yes, teams like Brighton should be thrashing VILLARREAL 4-0 without any concerns whatsoever.
I could never bring myself to uncover the blocked shite to which you have responded.

I salute your indefatigability.

Around 18:40, Mitoma showed profound world class. Again.

Just a little thing, but he was running towards the far line, the ball was passed to him high and it fell over his shoulder from behind him. Not only did he instantly control it, but he spun as he did it. I don’t think any other player in our squad could do that. Beautiful.

It alone was worth the bother of going and the admission fee. On top of that my pint of Harvey's was also top notch!

That was ridiculous……

You don’t learn much from the four easy games we have had in our pre season. I would rather have seen them pitted against at least one better side , to see what they are really made of . We have some difficult games in the early season - a few games in we will know more.

I think that's under playing Villareal.

The coach and players will have learned a lot about each other. Trying to implement new tactics whilst view all the players in the squad in one game against Liverpool or City in the summer sun would be nuts.

It will be.

Last week i thought QPR were very poor, I know others on here felt it was our performance that made them look poor, the press etc., but actually they were really bad (I see they got beaten yesterday as well).

Yesterday I felt we were a lot better, but I am still worried about Everton, not because they’re a good team, but more because of their playing style.

On another day they could have been 3 up inside 15 minutes.
I’d rather we got that out of the way in a friendly and learned from it. Hopefully we will.

Everton tend to start quickly against us. However, so long as we don’t go behind we have a big range of impact players this season to come on and torment them in the last 20.

Low block will be the true test of Albion this season. Can we move quickly enough and decisively enough to create opportunities? Or will we be passing the ball backwards and forwards ad infinitum in front of a back 10 waiting for them to inevitably score on the break?

I had the same thought. They looked fairly poor, much like QPR did last week. It got me wondering how much that was them or down to us?

I've been focusing, perhaps wrongly, on the weaknesses within our performances. Maybe I should be putting more weight on the positives. We've played five games that I'm aware of, won them all and scored 17 goals in the process.
