We are going to have to let Everton think they can play it out V us at first next week. First game of new season. Evertonians hopeful without any points drductions. Go easy on them. Then try and use our mega press to snatch a goal preventing them from another hour or so of the Dyche shit housery, low block, time wasting, big man bollocks he has made a career of.

Do this instead of the inevitable ugly 1-0 / 1-1 they'll get if they just boot it for 90 minutes.
Everton play it out from the back? I assume you watched Pickford for England in the Euros? It was like the Peter Kaye John Smiths advert at times.

Lots that was very good today especially playing through midfield and from wide - pacy and inventive. But still very open in defence. A long diagonal or a cross or a long ball down the middle - they all look likely to catch us just that fraction too high and lacking pace

Happy with that to a large extent.

Probably a different game if they scored the one they hit the post from in the first minute and we never seemed secure down our right. Don’t think Velts was a conventional RB. At one point he popped up at left back.

That apart we were great. Very good pressing, some lovely passing, great finishing. Hopefully bags of confidence going into next week.

Minteh is quick and hard working but struggles at the time with decision making and touch. Weiffer will be a beast. Very instrumental in our second. Pedro’s finish was world class.

All in all we’re going to need to press and finish like that if we’re abandoning right back and midfield as concepts. But if we can keep the first and improve the second it’s going to be a great season.

Agreed, you have to hope that a fit Dunk will add a bit of caution and guidance to not commit too far...... unless of course FH doesn't want caution to be part of his master plan.

Great result and good work out for all. Appreciate all the praise for Minteh but he really needs to look at clips of Saka and see as well as great going forward is outstanding at defending. In PL all FBs need help from wide players. Surely we need somebody with more legs in MF than Milner. Cant see him able to cover FB positions very often
He’s (just) 20 with very little first team football. Give him time.

Really enjoyed that, positives are:
1. We press really well in final third
2. Slick passing and very fast
3. Liked the central midfield partners

Not many negatives
1.Dunk looked unfit
2.we were done a few times down the right

In summary, good workout against a solid team and in parts we looked superb. We have still have Van Brugan, Lamptey, Enciso, Igor, Perv, Ferguson and Solly to come back in as well. Looking forward to the season.

Thought he looked utterly miserable for the first 20 minutes, and that manifested itself in a below par start for him…..

However, two 60 yard passes later he was back to normal.

Incredibly, some **** had already nabbed my seat.
there were only a couple of dozen taken from my section and someone had nabbed by f***ing seat.

I will be sitting directly behind them, in a bit of a huff.

On todays showing, we are not going to have a clean sheet in the PL, until probably Christmas 2027.

Whether we can out score the opposition week in week out is unlikely, but currently we are far better going forward and pressing than defending.

It could well mirror the Barry Lloyd season where we ended in the play-offs with a negative goal difference, lots of 3-2 wins and heavy defeats.

It will be fun.
