Viera was very restrained I thought. Stood up for himself and didn't go over the top. The Everton fans that stepped in deserve credit too. Why should Viera, or anyone else, have to accept verbal abuse hurled directly at you without reacting. He stood up for himself without acting like a thug, very impressed with his actions. Deserves credit for that.

Contrast that with McBurnie, or that idiot Heckingbottom, who raised the temperature by thrusting the ball at the Forrest player

Everton FC fukked up royally there. A pitch invasion was a dead certainty. Vieira should have been protected. They deserve plenty of incoming flack.

The relevant Everton fans were nob heads. No question.

Vieira lost the moral high ground. He should not have lashed out.

BUT, players and fans aren't allowed to react to all sorts of provocation from fans from other clubs on the pitch. What the hell are they supposed to do? I thought he went well over the top but as a mate of mine has pointed out, he had no escort off the pitch. Everton did nothing to protect him. It's pretty poor by the home club in this instance. He should be being escorted off the pitch.

You're missing the point that the 'random abuse' is usually dished out from a distance ... not from someone illegally on the pitch and right in the face of a manager who should not have been put in this position in the first place. I'm not saying it makes it acceptable, it really isn't.
None of this sordid little event is ok.
But I'm not going to pretend that dragging the scrote back to punch and kick him to the floor is an acceptable response.

Hopefully all parties will get dealt with accordingly.

Agreed.
But when a human being makes a mistake, there are consequences.

If the abuse was sustained, then the reaction would be more justified.
But the fan had had his moment and was walking away.
This was a red mist moment for Vieira.

The scrote got what was coming to him and so should Vieira.
