Shoulder operation I think I heard/read somewhere.
He was interviewed on tv, on Saturday evening. His jacket was done up, but his arm was in a sling, and he said he'd had a shoulder operation, which went well.

Btw, there is still a 2 hour programme on ITVX showing our match, so these interviews etc can be seen too.

If Steele were fit, I'd be saying we should start Bart in every game. With Steele unavailable, I think we should look to play Rushworth and give him his chance. I think he's earnt it and Bart does look like he could do with a spell out of the team.
How has Rushworth earned it?

No he's not been relegated to cup keeper - they've played 4 PL games this year and he's been the keeper for all of them. The only game he's not been their keeper for was in the cup against Morecombe.

He's not been dropped despite being despised and making a lot of errors. Bart is young and has potential still, so dropping him for a few errors would be a mistake.
Wasn’t Sanchez dropped for the last EPL game against Potter’s Wet Sham?

I don’t think Friday is the time for this.
I think there’s some value in giving Rushworth some minutes over the next few months, especially the closer we get to mid table obscurity (he is a player we’ve invested a lot of development in over the last few years), but I feel like Bart deserves patience and I’m not sure how positive a move it would be doing this now against Chelsea.
Bart needs some confidence, I suppose the biggest question is should that be from the positive reinforcement of improving in-game or does he need a bit of time out of the firing line. Tough being a gk.

Bart is our number 1 all keepers will make errors from time to time thing is not to get too over excited when we win and not to down when we loose

Regardless of how Bart is doing putting Rushworth in when he's barely got acquainted with the rest of the team seems unfair on the chap.

It's funny, isn't it? If we'd lost last night, NSC would have been rife with this debate, and people suggesting Rushworth should start on Friday (as indeed I found myself pondering during the game). Because we went on to win, it's not really dominating our thoughts. Just as if we'd held on against Wolves at home, nobody would have remembered Wieffer's misplaced pass. Instead, we biffed a two goal lead, and Wieffer became the target of all sorts of disparaging comment both here and elsewhere. Isn't it crazy how the bigger picture affects our perspective?

Hopefully the victory will act as a bit of a confidence booster for all the players, Bart included. I don't think he's been great recently, albeit most of his errors have been with his feet rather than his hands, which somehow feels slightly more forgivable for a keeper. Any more errors and I think Rushworth may well get a chance. But I'm fairly certain Hürzeler will stick with Bart for now after the win.
I don’t think anyone forgot Bart’s mistake just because we won.

And similarly, Weiffer thoroughly deserved the stick he got for playing football like a school child.

In terms of the game on Friday, I’d stick with him unless the manager feels that Rushworth has done something incredible to earn the shirt, which seems highly unlikely considering he’s barely played this season.

Blimey. We're literally 3 points from probable European football.
It feels like we are miles off Europe yet what you say is indeed true.

We could yet have our greatest ever season - winning the FA Cup and finishing, say, 7th is really not pie in the sky. Yet we'll have been beaten by Palace at home, lost 7-0 at another non-big 6 club, failed to beat Southampton at home, and dropped points from a 2-0 winning position against 2 clubs who could easily go down.

It's been a very odd season.
