Every young signing we make does this. And every player that we develop and sell does this too.

There are others - Dortmund, Leipzig, Salzburg, Benfica, Sporting, maybe Ajax. These clubs have regular European football and much more pedigree but are these days effectively a springboard to the top clubs for young talent.

Whilst we are new on the European scene we can offer a direct step into what is widely seen as the best league in the world.

We are also self aware enough to not stand in the way of young players, and there is much less pressure here on their development than at some of the other clubs listed above.

Maybe they have/did, but our guys were more convincing, club offered a better pathway, Facu and Ale helped etc etc……..it’s like all of the moving parts come together to make us a preferred option for some players…….

Barco has exercised the release clause to come to us - ie his choice.

Theyre all great clubs with good history of developing young talents and you'd guess would be appealing to a young talented non european.

However, the PL is the most watched league in world, allegedly the best competition and certainly one of the highest paying. I guess many of us know friends/aquaintencies in our professional fields who work for someone else and chat about differences/terms etc. Word will be well known now of what Brighton has done for the likes of Ale Mac/Caicedo, will do in time for Enciso etc, and it will be widely known from peers that the pace and sheer physciality of the PL takes some getting used to.

From the outside, and seeing how our club promotes/plays kids, I doubt there's any SA protege who ultimately dreams of Liverpool, Man U or City that wouldn't see us as the perfect destination of choice to get game time and exposure to the best league in the world at a really good level. Its a win/win

Quite so.

That geographical advantage that the Albion have over the European giants that you've mentioned must be a significant appeal.

Being the best club to acquire and develop talent doesn't display a lack of ambition, but is very much an achievement in and of itself.

I think we are more than just a stepping stone club now.
Whilst not a destination club as such, I don't think any players signing for us, are concerned about getting "stuck" with us anymore.
Playing for De Zerbi at our current level, is enticing in it's own right.

Add to that a current award winning chairman in that Italian award ceremony. It all adds up to make us a very attractive prospect for any young player.

The first choice club that every hungry and talented wunderkid from every continent wants to join.

If you can't be the king, be the kingmaker.

Consistent on-field achievements for fans and regular future transfer fees for club will more than compensate.

I think I'd argue that we are already that now. Certainly in this country, anyway.

Pretty much every club is a stepping stone club isn't it? Other than Citeh, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and maybe PSG, every club can and does lose players to a bigger club. The benefit of us doing so well is that the clubs that we might lose players to has reduced significantly. For example, I don't see us selling our best player to Tottenham like we did with Bissouma. Now, it's down to clubs that offer either a boatload more money or title/Champions League winning potential or both.

The lad could have signed for pretty much any big club in the WORLD, and has seemingly chosen to come to us. There is not a chance he has done so, without very firm promises that he's coming to play first team football.

Agree with this. Even between big clubs there is business done.

I also agree that there is a dwindling pool of clubs who can offer us the sort of money we want for a star player. It's only Man City, Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal I'm worried about Chelsea are now selling to buy. Don't see us selling to Newcastle either, not a star player anyway.

Yeah he’s not trading in Boca Juniors to play some u21 football or be sent on loan to Blackburn Rovers.

He is joining the Argentina U20 pre Olympic tournament that runs until mid February and starts soon, ( well he was whilst with current club, not sure if BHA told him he can’t)

In which case, mid February onwards+ bedding in time that any new player requires to get used to our system.

I assume he would be; but of course we're a little snookered in terms of how many changes we can make to out Europa squad.

I think we have 1 space without removing players like Lamptey or Lallana, and we need to potentially add Enciso, if he is fit in time.

Correct. 1 space remaining. Moder and Enciso need to be added if we want them to be involved.
