Lewis Dunk took quite a while to adjust. He wasn't that great for a season or two if my memory serves me correctly. Then it clicked into place. I was very wrong about him due mainly to my impatience, I didn't allow for inexperience enough. I won't make that mistake again.

Wanted Barco to do well but he wasn't given a chance under Roberto apart from 3 appearances. When he had a few mins at wolves he looked good and tried. Another game(maybe villa home?), he came on and helped get the win with a bit of time-wasting. Obviously, Fab doesn't see him fitting in so disappointing considering our current playing style and inability to get results consistently.
So you are complaining about the manager who did play him and not the one who hasn’t and wants him out?

They only get three games to prove themselves these days apparently 😔 and now he’s being blamed for the defeats

So you are blaming Barco entirely? A kid from Argentina who really shouldn’t have played in any games tbh.
The manager at the time said he wasn’t ready and he wasn’t.
I’ve no idea what’s happened. Not blaming anyone - just pointing out that he had a tough time playing with us last season. And also it’s not worked out on loan.

Surely we should all understand that sometimes plans don't work out. In Barco's case the team he was loaned to apparently decided something didn't work to play him. Not necessarily anyone's fault at all. Everyone should move on and wish him the best whatever comes next.

Who played alongside Dunk when he first started playing at the back?

A bit like Paddy McCourt never understood the hype. A defender that couldn’t defend
Paddy McCourt looked pissed most of the time, I know Hyppia was a dreadful manager but even by his low standards McCourt was a shocking signing. It's a shame about Barco, what I saw of him I liked but unfortunately for whatever reason he's a bad fit so the clubs decided he's got to go.

People talking about 3 appearances here was enough for us to bin him. How about his appearances for Sevilla all being awful and then them no longer wanting him? That is more likely what has led to is selling him. Sevilla telling us exactly why they don't want him, Bloom and the recruitment team realising the same thing will happen here, so it's best for us and him to move on.

That was the yard stick you used to justify the clubs decision to transfer him
- had difficult start with us, difficult loan, club had other players in that position, sign that FAB preferred other options, didn’t lose ££ on the deal is all I know. Other stuff - no idea.

Before we start getting carried away - a reminder that Barco started a mere 3 games for the Albion . We lost all of them and our defence of which he was a member i think - shipped 9 goals whilst we're at it.
Didn't play at Fulham, Luton, or Roma away though.
More experienced players than him shipped 2 more goals in those 3 games.

Premier league debut in a knackered team playing for a manager who saw defence as optional, and who had given up.

No. He didn’t. There’s a number of factors here but sometimes things just don’t work out.

Yeah.

But saying a 19 year old defender can't defend is out of order. Considering what he walked into for his debut.
I really didn’t say that and certainly didn’t mean that. He was 18 , very talented and came into a team that struggled. He probably struggled too.

I think this says it all. We as fans only see players on the pitch. But it's also how they behave as part of the team or in training etc. Looks like he is one that slipped through the 'no dickheads filter'.
And the fact that he wasn't allowed to come back to Brighton recently with all this shenanigans going on over where he will go. I think Fabian put his foot down and said he doesn't want him back.
Good luck to Barco in the future, hopefully he will mature into a good player and still have a decent career
