If people dont understand systems then it's usually because the system design is poor. I struggle with the online ticketing and I've been a systems analyst for the past 4 years.

But only some people don't understand it, where plenty of others do, that doesn't mean it is utterly hopeless, and a viable slant to slag off the club.

The system isn't unique to the Albion, it's a ticketing system, bought by the Albion, and also used by other organisations. It's a shame if it casues some a problem. Wouldn't it be better if people offered advice and assitance, to help everyone to find it as useful as those of us who don't have a problem with it?

How can you struggle as a 'systems analyst', when my mate who sells insurance, my mate that works in a call centre and my mate who drives a van as a courier all managed it and to link our accounts ?

I seem to recall having problems to start with but once your 'friends' are setup it is straightforward.

Nail. Head.

People are not moaning about the system for the fun of it, they are moaning because there are issues with the system.

At last, some common sense instead of patronising & insulting remarks from the apologists on this and other more recent threads: our online system is flawed. I personally have successfully used our website. But it's clearly NOT working for loads of people. And instead of belittling fans who have difficulties the sheer volume of people expressing problems on here indicates it's not exactly best in class. Which means it could be reviewed and improved. Which the club ought to do asap what with the Amex about to open. August next year promises to be a wonderful month. But i equally think it'll be bloody frustrating for thousands!

Probably in the same way your mates struggle to get a proper job like the one Supaseagull has....:p:thumbsup:

I wouldn't worry, I can't imagine there will be too many tickets on general sale in our first season anyway

I'd ask a question, just how many are there struggling with this (a straw poll on this site would help to gauge this).

Also, bear in mind, this isn't the Albions system; it is a ticketing system the Albion have bought in, so stop having a go at the club. Perhaps ask the club if they can ask provide better, or more helpful instructions to assist those that can't get their heads round it, but for goodness sake, stop blaming it all on the club.

Perhaps you could direct your vitriol at the makers of the offending software, or perhaps ask them to provide clearer instructions (those of you who have a problem I mean)

And really, I am no apologist, I just try to consider what is good, before I jump on what I think is bad.

I've used it plenty of times, probably isn't helping by the fact that this evening seems to have a massive demand. This seems to be having effect of not letting you finish any process. People that haven't used it for should try a little later on when less people are using it to get to grips with how things work maybe?

Most of the complaints are not " the system doesn't work" , they are "the system doesn't do what I want". Like- let me buy tickets for people I am not linked to or let me link people without them having to agree or linking people without knowing the necessary and relevant information about them or letting me buy tickets for unregistered people. The system will never let you do these things.

Bit like most things people complain about with software as they never read what it does.

There are definitely some glitches in the system though.

First time (Woking tkts) I went through Checkout and got "Undefined error code TEPCBV-1" - not very meaningful. Tried later - worked fine.

Next try (SCC tkts) I got "Server error in '/' application". Tried later - worked fine.

Being a very bad fan I don't make it to many games and I am perenially forgetting my fan number. Booked tickets for Yeovil on the 'phone, they easily found my details on "the system" without complication via postcode, as they also did for my friend who is also registered and for whom I also didn't have a fan number.

Tickets arrived no probs. and they even print your name on the for you in case you forget it - which is nice.

Don't come to games often enough but also don't recall any problems when booking tickets at Withdean on the phone.

Hmmm. I wonder how long Newcastle have been using it for? We haven't been for a couple of years (as they've been shit) but in the past the Newcastle system was great; it was never busy, it never crashed and it was REALLY simple. I've got a membership number, I keyed it in and it asked me how many tickets I wanted. None of this 'linking fans' bollocks. I usually bought four at a time and no I didn't have to say who they were for. I keyed in the credit card details and that was it. Day or so later, without fail, the tickets arrived. (Plus of course when I got to the match I could stand for ninety minutes but that's another issue!)

Be interesting to find out if it was the same version of software as Brighton's but configured differently (and allowing more concurrent users) or whether it was a completely different system.

Sorry not been back before, replies to rant received as expected.
There are however a few people who do understand the problem, if you have a product to sell (a football match) first the product has to be saleable for whatever reason and then it has to be easy to buy and readily accessible, hence the rise and rise of the of on-line sales of goods and services of all types.
The good people in the Club shop understand good service and customer relations as the generations of the Club ticket sellers have before them.
The modern world demands that you pass an exam and have a piece of paper qualification to get out of bed in the morning, maybe it's just an age thing, because I grew up in an age where if you wanted something you just went and did it, and there was nobody to demand a list of pieces of paper that you needed to prove you were eligible to do it.( ie. Buy a ticket.)

Precisely. I use the internet all the time. I shop online all the time. I buy tickets for other events online all the time. I don't have any problems.

I understand HOW the system is supposed to work and I'm not saying that people in the ticket office are unhelpful. I'm just saying it is not a very good system as it relies too much on requiring information from and about other people if you are trying to buy a group of tickets.
