Jasper Carrots smash hit, Funky moped was only successful because the B side, The magic roundabout, contained the word 'Piss'.

Hard rocking Lemmy from Motorhead was in Roy Woods group Wizzard and can be seen playing bass on the video for "I wish it could be Christmas everyday"!
He was also in Hawkwind and sang lead vocals on their only single hit "Silver machine"

And lest we forget, the song "Motorhead" by Motorhead is actually a cover version.

The original was recorded by Hawkwind before Lemmy got kicked out (for getting himself arrested on a US tour if I recall).

The one time drummer for Black Flag, the Columbian, Robo was refused re-entry into the US in 1985 and was not seen or heard of by anyone in the the band until he turned up last minute to drum at a strange MisFits gig at Concorde 2 a couple of years ago (which I attended). There was hardly anyone there from the MisFits but several members of Black Flag were there including Dez Cadena who went on to perform a set made up mainly of Black Flag songs. Very odd evening indeed.

The Stranglers 'Golden Brown' is not about a woman but in fact heroin which is often brown in colour.

Thought for many years that Elton John's Honky Cat had a line saying he was 'pissing in a stream' ... only recently did I find out he was actually 'fishing in a stream'!

Derek and the Dominoes 'Layla' was written about George Harrison's then wife, Patti Boyd. She subsequently married and then divorced Eric Clapton.

As was Something by George Harrison, not many women can have had two such great songs by two different stars written about them?

I think Wonderful Tonight might also have been written for her?

Wings hit 'C Moon' was made the 'A' side of a single that had 'Hi, Hi, Hi' on the 'B' side. The latter was banned as the words 'We're gonna get hi, hi hi' were considered a drug reference.

The Stealers Wheel song "Stuck in the middle with You" is an ode to Billy Connoly and another member of a band they used to play with. The lead singer of SW had Billy Connoly to right of him on stage and inbetween songs Connoly would crack jokes. To the left of him was the bassist who would crack uop laughing at the jokes well into the next song hence "Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right.."

Steely Dan were often attributed as recording this song but they never did, they were however named after a notorious Dildo in a porn film that was doing the rounds at the time.

Macca's 'Let Me Roll It' was written in a bouncing back response to Lennon's 'How Do you Sleep?' during their spat in the early 1970s

"Dear Friend' was his attempt at reconciliation with Lennon and the single C Moon was telling Lennon he was Cool with everything .....

Sorry to correct you but you but in fact the original 'Steely Dan' was a strap on from the Williams Burroughs novel 'The Naked Lunch'.

Sir Paul Mccartney made a cameo appearance on a Super Furry Animals track, Receptacle for the Respectable, making the sound of chewing on a celery and a carrot - he's even credited in the album sleeve notes as: "Paul McCartney - celery & carrot!"

Didn't want to be pedantic ! Actually as you may have noticed I have a regular pile of useless crap at my disposal. Here's more, Jimi Hendrix used to be a backing musician for both Little Richard and the Isley Brothers.

A lot of Americans don't realise that Bruce Springsteen's 'Born in the USA' IS NOT a celebration of their beloved country, in fact it's just the opposite. Always makes me smile when I hear the chorus being played at an American event. The Guess Who (a Canadian Band) song 'American Woman', covered by Lennie Kravitz was not about a woman but a very anti American song'

Unlike most songs, the title of Squeeze's "Up the Junction" is only heard on the final two words of the song.

Similarly, their song "Another nail in my Heart" is never actually sung. They actually sing "Another nail for my heart"

The Boomtown Rats album V Deep meant 5 deep and not as some US distributors thought VD. For our youngsters, vinyl records had sides, an A side and a B side. the A isde was 5 deep and the b side was called 6 shallow. This described a Japanese form of love making.

Now I am sad!!!
