My first thought too, not that I'm not pleased with the possibility of Upson signing. Signing players when a new manager may have other preferences and contacts does seem strange. Maybe Gus is staying?

Which got us out of Division 1, 10th in the championship in our first season and 4th in our second season. Rather that than the nonsense I have been served up over the years.
The Poyet template needs refining, not ripping up if Brighton want to get promoted. Their 'tippy tappy' play achieved a 4th placed finish last time out, so there was not all that much wrong with the approach.
