Is Tony Bloom already beginning to splash the cash? I can't really think who else in League One can afford him:

According to the Leeds Evening Post, Middlesbrough are the latest club to be linked with Jermaine Beckford.

The striker is on the transfer list and has been linked with interest from City and now Middlesbrough.

However, there has only been one firm bid on the table and that has come from a League One club.

Beckford's agent Nick Rubery told the YEP: "On the basis that we've had one offer and he's now on the transfer list, it seems pretty likely that he'll be leaving before next season.

"It's a good offer from a League One club but the increase in wage was so insignificant that it gave us nothing to think about."

Maybe, but clearly he will not be moving to ANOTHER League 1 club. Top 6 Championship at best for him I reckon. Tabloid Premiership talk is a bit wide of the mark imo. Boro is a good shout though.

I would piss myself if he signed for us. I dont think he's go for us, you never know though. But it would be one of the funniest things in a long time.

It'd be Norwich or Charlton I imagine. Cant see anybody else being able to afford him.

Charlton?

They're nearly in administration so would never be able to afford him.

Good shout with Norwich though, although the current owners are trying to sell the club so I'm not sure if they'd put money in at the moment.

Why,when any half decent player is up for sale do people on here think we are bidding for him?
Recent history would suggest that we're probably not.

Beckford or Owusu, Beckford or Owusu, ooh it's a toughie ....

owusu for me - beckford has a shocking attitude and thinks he is above himself at leeds, who, despite the constant piss taking, are the biggest club in this division by some distance

quite what he would make of coming to the withdean i dread to think - although i think the comment in that article about wages probably denotes that

Quite a few clubs have money and would he really cost that much? Out of contract next year

Abort, retry, fail
what does that last sentance mean?

I misread it and thought it was a club statement at first. But clearly his agent is wanting more than just a 'minimal' (?) increase? He is on the transfer list now, so his agent will be seeing £ signs and hold out for the highest bidder. Not the best move for his client.
