Universally liked Premier League footballers?

I just like the way he stays on his feet, hasn't (to my knowledge) ever been a 'dirty' player, and likes to have a pop. Albeit without scoring, but he seems to be the definition of 'team' player.

I've always liked him too, but I hadn't come across anyone else who understands his brilliance.

This is what always annoyed me about Scholes. Not so much the fact that he couldn't tackle, or that he was often reckless to the point of endangering fellow proffesionals, but more the reaction of refs and the media when he did so.

Two footed lunge from say, Karl Henry = red card, and comments from the media including the words "disgraceful, cynical, etc"

An identical tackle from Scholes = yellow card, and a myopic, sycophantic media chuckling "Haha, Typical Scholesy".

What an accurate observation.
Just like:

Balotelli's thuggery = the full book thrown at him.

Lampard ("good old Frank. He's world class, and isn't that sort of player") or Lescott = little or no action.

Now if this were about lower-league players who are universally liked, why, there's no better example than Steve Fletcher of AFCB !

Very good shout.

Not many people dislike Crouch do they? Seems a nice guy without much ego and knows how lucky he is. Also has the ability to take the piss out of himself.

As for Giggs, always used to think he was great but the affairs and especially with the sister in law have ruined it for me, thats about as low as you can go. And whoever said Lescott, I think Everton fans may disagree!
