rana was only ever signed as vocer while arafat was away on international duty

i would rather we had let arafat go and signed rana permanently. unfortunately though, they seem to make decisions based as much on emotional reasons as cricketing reasons

Correct.

Morally I suppose they made the best decision.

But Arafat is VASTLY inferior with the ball even if he's a better bastman. But Rana's not exactly a mug when it comes to batting either.

We were never going to be able to rely on RMJ all season, he simply had a freakishly good start. And so far the Panesar signing hasn't really proved anything, he's done no better than Rayner.

As for the bat, we've been an all-round joke in the Championship, probably as a result of a lack of signings in that department.

We need a LOT of players to hit form and fast, or we could find ourselves messing up what looked to be a promising season.

Arafat bowled 15 overs for the seconds over against Surrey a few days ago and went for about 55 runs and got a wicket.

Rana would have done better today, especially at the death.

Today:

Batting = Good, in fact brilliant.
Fielding = Okay, especially Luke
Bowling = My village team could have done better.

panesar is showing what a joke signing he is. rayner was just as effective in the championship, and wat beer can deal with the one day stuff. its just a waste of wages on a name who hasn't been effective with the ball for the past two-three years

the second division is such a shambles that we should get out of it even with the way they are batting. cant see us doing anything in one day cricket though, especially if todays result is anything to go by

Panesar is a f***ing liabillty, I went to Somerset and he must have cost us at least 10 runs in the field. He can't bat, and Rayner and Beer are better bowlers.

I don't think he's as bad as some people say, but surely noone can believe he's better than what we already had. Has Robinson or anyone actually said why we've wasted the budget on a player we don't need instead of filling the two positions we desperately do need?

because he is a big name and everybody used to love him for wearing a turban, running around when he took a wicket and being generally shit?

thats the ONLY reason i can think why they spunked a shit load of the budget on the ONE position (alongside wicket keeper) that we didnt actually need anyone

I'm not entirely sure Robinson will have used those words, which is what I asked:lolol:

"So Mark, why have you brought Monty to the club?"
"Well it's simple really, he wears a turban, he runs around when he takes a wicket and, generally, he's pretty shit."
"Fair enough."

he might have done if he was under the influence of crack at the time. which, lets be honest, is a strong possibility if he thinks that panesar is worth wasting a large portion of the budget on

Agree.
Didn't go today but from what I've seen so far the fielding and bowling discipline is shocking compared to last season.
We've suffered for a while from batsmen who can't cope with lateral movement and hit across the line in 4 day cricket.
The Sussex CCC msge board is ridiculously happy-clappy compared to the doom miserabilism of NSC but even they are beginning to wonder. Anyway it's time for Mark Robinson and co to sort things out. The 4 LVCC wins have given a false sense of optimism to a rapidly decining team.

Realistically I think we need to win 6/7 of our remaining 7 games to reach the Semi's. Don't see no reason why we can't, we've probably played our hardest game (Somerset at Taunton).

1 month break now for the Twenty20's :drink:

I'm looking forward to the Lord's away game - hopefully I'll be watching from the ICC box!

Got the Afternoon off work for it. Always try to get to Lords for the T20, try to piss off as many Snobs as possible.

Hopefully I won't have to wake you up on the train home again this time
