Whatever, there's far too many people that think unemployed people are scroungers.

The majority of unemployed people actively looking for work should be given every help and assistance. Those who aren't looking for work should have a broom put in their hands and told to clean the streets or get no money.

Agreed but it's not that easy to tell one from the other.

If they are in their mid 20s and never worked, I would argue it is.

Once again that's partially circumstantial, not as clear cut as it appears. Granted I can see where you're at with Algie and frankly I'm surprised that there haven't been more posts about what he said.

I am actually not having a dig at him as he is quite possibly looking for work and he has paid his taxes for many years.

There is a woman who lives near my Mum who is now about 50 and had probably worked for 2 years in her life and has her own 2 bedroom house, paid for by Social Security.

I am sorry, but there is a hardcore where it is that obvious. Social Security is a safety net, not a way of life.

If I don't find a job before the end of April, I will have only worked for 3 months in a full year.
The Internet is soooo damned boring when you use it all day.

Agreed, another one is the 'depression scam'. I knew a woman (a qualified nurse no less) who hadn't worked for ten years as she she was signed off with clinical depression. She openly bragged about it as she knew it was a scam ! What annoyed me was her line that 'she would not work to pay taxes to buy bombs'. My response was 'Why should I work to pay taxes to keep lazy bitches like you off the street' ?

No, let's get the unemployed back to work and try and improve the system that caused it.

The only problem with my solution to that would cause more unemployment as I say let's get rid of all the dead wood Civil Servants and then maybe we'd get more done as the ones left would have a bit more incentive to do some real work.

I was unemployed from end of October to Beginning of Feb. It drove me mad. I had been with my last employer for 20 years. I tried to keep my same routine i.e getting up the same time etc. The job that I am doing now is not what i am qualified to do. It also pays half what I was on and so it is difficult to make ends meet. However i was so desperate to get a job I was prepared to try anything just to avoid what Vulture is going through. I registered my cv online, sent it to numerous agencies. All of which proved fruitless. I have been lucky. The company where i got the job interviewed 90 people. I have friends who are still looking. I wish anyone currently unemployed the best of luck.

Excuse me but are not people unemployed because the system is in crisis. Capitalism

Communism didn't exactly take it's chances in the middle part of the 20th century.

Saying, that the banks are seemingly quite comfortable with capitalism on the way up and socialism on the way down.

I think the socialist would argue that capitalism support for fascism put a stop to the spread of communism. Also the reformist social democrats didn't help. This is quite an interesting article

working full time (thankfully), but struggling to pay bills. No money left for things like clothes or birthday presents, but lucky to have steady money coming in. Friends that are self-employed are having a much tougher time.
