The most underrated band of all time imo is Love, (why does everyone rate the Doors so much?)
i'm sure you're aware, Love was Jim Morrisons favourite band.

When & where are they playing? The Chameleons, they were Manchester's house band in the early 80's. I'm off to see Mark Burgess and John Lever in the Sun and the Moon shortly. Fingers crossed they will play a couple of Chams' tracks.

Dailymotion - A-Ha - Manhattan Skyline, un vÃ*deo de zocomoro. A-Ha, Manhattan, Skyline
I'm with you completely on the relative merits of Love v the Doors. Good call.
Can I kill 2 birds with one stone and mention the seriously under-rated Calexico, here doing a cover of my favourite Love song
Calexico for me too, very very under rated
I'm not sure Love are actually under rated at all as Forever Changes nearly always makes the top 50 albums ever in music polls and they were rated alongside the Doors and The Byrds back in the day.
I would also go for Spear of Destiny awesome live
sparks
Nah! Spooky Tooth.
Not by NMH.
I have all their early stuff, even the Nirvana single (Oh What a Performance) which has ST on, and the rare US-only single 'Spooky Blow'. Add to that all the VIP's records (including French EPs) and the Art LP and 45.
It's true that they were largely overlooked though, a bit heavy for their time.
They got revived notice, vicariously, when Judas Priest were taken to court in America over their cover of 'Better By You (Better Than Me)'. That was an amazing, landmark case in music and legalities.
(incidentally, for the completist, Spooky also apparently featured on the Hapshash and the Coloured Coat albums, which are quite awful!)
