Can someone explain the appeal of this very average film now no 4 in the all time

1. Titanic (1997) $1,835,300,000
2. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) $1,129,219,252
3. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) $968,657,891
*****4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) $962,244,616*****
5. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) $922,379,000
6. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) $921,600,000
7. Jurassic Park (1993) $919,700,000
8. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) $892,194,397
9. Shrek 2 (2004) $880,871,036
10. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) $866,300,000
e box office with nearly 1 billion dollars ???

Its based on gross earnings not bums on seats. Gone with the wind probably saw more peaple in the cinema but it was only 3 groats to get in the door in those days. Your above list has no bearing on popularity or quality of a film.

It would mean that Colin Kaseem Richards was a better player than Alan Ball of the 66 team because he cost more if we took the same line.

1 billion dollars suggests it is pretty popular when 100 million dollars is a big film, my question is why as it is very very average.

When a stranger calls 2.9

This is a remake and I got it from the dvd store and then checked the reviews after. Big mistake, this was utter utter gash with no suspense and no action, the lead actress was ok and pretty and that is the only good thing I have to say, lots of annoying phone ringing, suspense builds up when you think something might actually happen and then the cat comes round the corner.

Avoid at all costs, the worst film I have seen since Bewitched.

It has come to my attention that "Funny Games" is being remade, by the same director, Michael Haneke, for American audiences, ie. in English.

Please, please, please, I URGE you all, if you haven't seen the original German film, see it as soon as possible, before we get swamped by plot revealers and Tim Roth's sickening luvvie-speak (for it is he in the remake).

Rent it, watch it. Before it's too late.

I thank you.

Tonight on Five can I recommend Shallow Hal 8.0, it is a splended comedy with the wonderful Jack Black in a constantly amusing tale with a heart. Well worth watching if you haven't done so already.

Failure to launch

A fairly amusing rom com with Jessica-Parker stealing the plaudits along with McConnies parents. McConnie himself grates me somewhat but overall it was a mildly diverting piece of fluff

Are you trying to get a job on TV quick or something?

anyway, Shallow Hal is shite. Utter shite. It's ok if you're stuck on a plane and you have nothing else to do but if you have the option to NOT watch it on telly why would you bother to sit through it's utter utter average-ness?

Pipe down Alan.

A wonderful feature about a hard done by orphan boy named Alan who courageously beats all the odds, building his small Pipe stall in the east end into a succesful business before marrying the girl of his dreams. Heartwarming family fun that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Pay it Forward 7.9

A little under rated gem with excellent performances by Haley Joel Osment, Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt about an 11 year old boy who comes up with an idea to help improve the world called Pay it Forward which is a lovely idea. The boy thinks it has failed but the movement is spreading quick and fast across the USA. It is very sad and moving at the end and some people may say sentimental so its not one for Les Biehn or the hard men of NSC but it is really rather good.
