Do you even know what Racism is? Skin colour. Romania is a nationality.

Actually... in legal terms (according to the UN anyway)

the term "racial discrimination" shall mean any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin that has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life.

Lots of Labour supporters disagreed with the Iraq war, i'm sure a lot of Tory voters don't want the NHS torn apart or the education of the country put in jeapordy on a free-school wim.

If the leader of the party keeps on saying racist things then non-racists shouldn't vote for them if they care so much about the label

I dont care about the label racist. Its over used, misused, suffers from definition creep and is a crutch for tools with no co-herant arguments. It is also acusing someone of criminality which is a libel and a also a tactic of the exstreme left which our lightweight softleft moderaters are comfortable to ignore in their ignorant glad handing manner, untill the writs start flying...

Racist shmacist meh.

The smear tactics have failed. The racist label is a last resort, to be used when a person has no answers.

or maybe the racist label is used when somebody says/does something that is racist?

I don't support ANY of the big 3 parties. I still think UKIP are full of xenophobic pillocks. No smear campaign here, as there's no one else I'm particularly looking to support.

This crap about being rascists needs to stop, as it seems to encourage idiot left wingers to believe violence is justifiable.

I have voted in the NSC poll to stay in Europe, although I have voted UKIP in the European elections. I would never vote UKIP in a general election as I believe in being in the EU, I have voted for them to give the mainstream parties a kick up the arse which they need. I am not, and never have been a rascist. This disinformation being fed about UKIP, their policies and their supporters is becoming dangerous, if mainstream politicians are worried about losing their seats then they need to listen to what a large minority of the public are saying, not just rubbishing their opinions. Just because someone wants less power to be given to European politicians does not make them a rascist.

Fair point on the spelling smarty pants

But it needs to be said repeatedly that a huge majority of UKIP supporters and members ARE NOT ra(s)cists.

I am not a racist, neither am I a misogynist, and I would probably vote to stay in the EU. But, I shall be voting UKIP tomorrow for precisely the reasons outlined by Wellquickwoody, and I suspect there are many people like me who have been waiting for an opportunity to give the three main parties a kick up the backside, and all the smear campaigns against UKIP make me even more determined to get out and vote. I cannot emphasize enough my utter contempt for todays weasel politicians.

A man is known by the company he keeps. I too have "utter contempt for todays weasel politicians" but it's not going to ever make me align myself with the racists, misogynists and "swivel eyed loons" that comprise a part of UKIP.

Oh wow. Just wow. What word would you use to define this form of discrimination, then?*

*To give you a clue, race and skin colour aren't the same thing.

Why do you talk to me like a child when you are the one supporting vigilante actions against an entire group of people you don't even know?

Honestly, it is just absolutely ridiculous that people are being this led by the nose with the media. There are fewer UKIP members and they are being put under a level of scrutiny not experienced by the other parties. Who is exposing these 'bad apples'? It is the press who are hostile to UKIP (We already know how close Murdoch is to the Tories). Then you have the Mail and the Guardian doing their bit. Every time so much a a tidbit of ukip 'racist' evidence is found it is golddust for these publications. They are actively seeking it. It is inevitable there will be more UKIP members being dragged before the altar of progressive shariah judgment. It is not a straight comparison between two groups of people here. There is not a systematic inspection of every Tory member being undertaken - and there are more of them so it would be harder anyway. You either know this, and are all lying deliberately to yourselves because of a bias. Or are an idiot.

To try to prove they are not a racist party, UKIP then take a hardline stance and kick out members who are exposed (quite the opposite of the historical trends for this kind of thing within other parties, who will try and ride out bad press). This does not appease their opponents of course, it only makes them think they were right all along, and use the numbers of people being kicked to prove they are racist! Literally can't win!

How are protests inherently right-wing?

The form of protests these people are taking part in aren't dignified. They are violent and you see a group of "anti"-facists employing intimidation tactics. Why is it the supposedly INTOLERANT UKIP are the villains here?

Y'all can thumbs down me all you want, but you're just as knee jerk reactionary as the group you hysterically brand racists and scum.

I fail to see what Farage has said that is racist. If the policy of the last government, and this current lot is to make it possible for eastern Europeans to cram into a house and work for the middle classes at cheap rates, then that is racism. The European union is racist as it denies skilled labour from Asia working here unless a vacancy can't be filled by a European citizen. If you have time, please feel free to visit Bognor Regis. Here you will see the results of unchecked migration from eastern Europe. The local newsagent, who is of Pakistani origin has experienced his only episode of racism in the 50 years he has resided here, all from the mouths of our eastern European cousins. He and his family are voting Ukip. Ukip, like the others have a few bad apples, but as a party they are not racist.

Cant see the smear campaign myself, all I see is UKIP members publicly acting like MASSIVE pricks in the public eye, and since UKIP are (lets be honest here) somehow a big threat to the big 3 parties, they will be under the magnifying glass - this is why all the cracks are showing. Some UKIP candidates need PR lessons too, IE the man in Croydon yesterday probably turning the entire town against UKIP with his comments, or the UKIP candidate in Oxford saying the Winter flooding was caused by gay marriage, turning gay people against UKIP.

That said, it is a fairly new party, so the poor PR from candidates may well die down soon. That said, Mr Farage has just posted on Twitter saying pretty much those who disagree with him should "leave the country" - surely that encourages immigration to other countries which UKIP are against !!

The racist comments come from UKIP candidates saying racist comments, the same with the homophobia and xenophobia.

People also need to look at the bigger picture for UKIP and look beyond the Europe issue and look at UKIPs other policies, including selling off parts of the NHS.

You should listen to the LBC interview. Amongst many other things though, AFTER the interview, when trying to backtrack slightly, he said "Any normal and fair-minded person would have a perfect right to be concerned if a group of Romanian people suddenly moved in next door". That textbook racism.

To add, it's the language he uses, it's not a 'family of Romanian people', it's a 'group of Romanian people', they don't just move in next door, they 'suddenly' move in next door. It's the language of hate and it's designed to do exactly what it is doing and stir up racial tension.

The supporters by and large are not racist. They are however ignorant. UKIP is choc full of racists who only need ignorant support to succeed. It's as old as time itself.

This is actually unbelievable. I've explicitly said that I support people lawfully showing disdain for racists. You come back and accuse me of not knowing what racism is, and are instantly shown that you're the one that's wrong. So now you roll out the familiar "it's a massive press conspiracy" argument, throwing in some nonsense about "shariah (sic) judgment" for good measure, before calling me an idiot. When you don't think being discriminatory towards Romanians is racism.

That's not really racist, that's stereotyping / generalising.

"....right to be concerned." Everyone has the 'right' to be concerned if [anything].

Romanian immigrants have a high crime rate - it's not racist, it's a fact.

feck me - you can't say anything in england these days.

As I said in my post, head down and have a look at Canada grove, bognor regis. It is virtually a no go area. 10 to a house, police visiting hourly, stabbing each other and turf wars. This is what Farage is on about. There is a big difference between someone coming over here to work, like nurses, doctors, skilled labourers and the groups of mainly men coming over to find a job if they can.
