Contingency plans like Operation Cygnus in 2016, which were completely ignored by the Tories.

yes, and an entire department literally paid to plan for this sort of thing. dont need politicans to tell you to do the day job.

Unfortunately we have a right-wing dominant media in this country and as such they won't say a word against their "side"

Right wing media . What about the BBC, daily mirror , Guardian , independent, channel 4 news etc , I wouldn’t call any of them right wing !

So small, established, long-term NHS suppliers had PPE or had access to it.

The NHS Trusts they supplied had been banned by Hancock from purchasing PPE from these established suppliers because all purchases had to be made by central government.
thats the disinformation you are being led to believe. they werent "banned", they say they didnt have the supply, but they could have supply if only they could talk to the right person. right.

Compare the circulations of those newspapers with those of the Mail and Sun. Then factor in that the BBC has had it's wings clipped considerably in recent years by a Government desperate to avoid censure.

Still we have such an effective opposition party so …oh

https://youtu.be/tz7DP8igU7U

Oh and I’ve very little if any respect for HMG

Bear pit by end of day

Maybe this “effective opposition party” would be better in power than the current HMG?

Couldn’t be much worse. Where would we be now without cronyism and an inadequate COVID response.

It’s all Corbyn’s fault.

A call from a PPE supplier with 30 years experience of supplying PPE to the NHS.

This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about, it was a closed shop even to companies with long relationships supplying the NHS.

Shocking mismanagement of public procurement

Think I posted this at the time - but I have a relative who works quite 'centrally' at the NHS and was put on a taskforce around PPE / procurement at the beginning of the pandemic. I think she managed to arrange 1 order successfully at the time in 3 months due to how difficult it was to actually to get anything through - this does not surprise me.

The trouble is people choose to believe what they read in the Daily Mail.

But is the right wing media turning against Boris?

George Orwell knew a thing or two about disinformation.

The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.'

Ah, gotcha. Blame the Civil Servants, not the politicians who give the orders.

absolutly, because they are there to provide the structure and continuity. politicans give some policy direction and soundbites, and gone a couple of years tops.

to be very clear, not defending the misappropriate dishing out of contracts for substandard gear. but if the organisation that is supposed to manage this doesnt, when there is a crisis we look to the politicans to do something, dont be surprised they reach for their contact book.

Just the one book. then.

As seen still in action amongst Republicans in the US .. the election was " stolen " and no one can stand against that lie.

I reckon these recent front pages have damaged the Tories way more than the left-wing press (or, indeed, the Opposition) over the past couple of weeks....

Here's today's winners of Whataboutery.

Stick to the investigation of the VIP lane, please.

It’s all linked, they get away with it because till the past week or so Labour are not cutting through

I caught the start of PMQs today and for the first time in ages Johnson seemed on the ropes.

Hopefully we are seeing a change.

My parents are lifelong Tory voters and are disgusted at this sleaze. Their saving grace is probably how long there is until another election at which time they will have built another strawman or bought a shiny object to distract voters from this
