He's obviously interested, but might want to know a bit more about the set up and to get some reassurances about the safety of his job if he were to take it.

I'll guess he'll take it unless he is alarmed at their basket case setup. All speculation on my part though.

Should Potter go, do you think Nathan Jones would be a viable replacement, or would his time at Stoke put paid to any interest?

Hardly. Lost count of the number of ‘chats’ I had with prospective employers that for all sorts of reasons didn’t happen. Chelsea are going to have to present GP with a very convincing case as to why he should leave now - Potter(who has planned his career very carefully) knows a move to a ‘big’ club (or country) will come at some point so he’ll make sure absolutely everything fits before he takes it. Is this that move ? No idea, but it’s a way off a done deal.

Agreed, he was very reluctant to leave Swansea when we came in for him due to the impact on moving family etc. My only hope is that his kids are settled in Brighton and he doesn't want to uproot them. OR he doesn't fancy the commute to Cobham from Brighton... tenuous but you never know! Gutted if he does go...

No intel at all but I imagine there would be enough question marks about Jones's time at Stoke to put us off him. Not sure his outspoken way is a good fit for our setup either.

Some of the best managers in world football went to Chelsea despite Abramovich being short-termist, famous for hiring and firing.

As for stability, Potter wouldn't need a penny for two years with that squad of players they've assembled. A 3-5-2 formation would give you a team of Mendy, Reece James, Cucurella, Thiago Silva, Koulibaly, Fofana, Kante, Jorginho, Mount, Sterling, Aubameyang with a bench including Arrizabelaga, Chilwell, Broja, Gallagher, Pulisic, Kovacevic, Havertz, Ziyech etc.

Cheers, wasn’t sure how well regarded he was by the powers that be at the Amex. Luton have just nabbed our best player and appear to have an open dialogue with our owners; could do without them pinching our manager at this moment in time.

He's not been interviewed by one of Europe's big clubs before has he? Probably worth the trip to get a feel for the type of interview you get, just for the experience. Plus if he declines, his next sit down with Tony, is this is what they offered me...

They could be a right bunch of dicks as well, he goes up and they tell him he doesn't have any responsibility for transfers, no input on player contracts or sales etc. may just turn on his heels.

GP is too good a person to just dismiss the opportunity without even listening to them. He will listen to what they have to say and then make an informed decision. I would still not be surprised ifhe decides to stay after all that.

They will say whatever they think he wants to hear. The reality will be that he is out the door in 18 months or less unless he turns them into Man City.

I can`t see him turning Chelsea job down. Whilst we think of Brighton as a Prem club. Realistically we are minnows compared with Chelsea. Potters Chelsea salary would be enormous compared with his salary here. Love him to stay but IMO he`s bound to go if he gets the chance.

Sadly I’ve revised my opinion, and agree with you. At the point I originally posted I wasn’t aware there’d been any links, and assumed Chelsea would be straight in for Poch. I still think there’s a high probability of either fan restlessness or dressing room revolt leading to a premature end if GP does join Chelsea, but I can see the attraction for a manager to be able to test themselves in the Champions League, and am now pretty much resigned to losing him.

He comes across as a whiny little shit and it’s always someone else’s fault. He’s more of a Tuchel than a GP.

It was a surprise to me that Tuchel was sacked.. No good reason for it in my opinion.
I have read that GP is favourite, but I think he would be a fool to go there .
Are Chelsea going to offer a 6 year contract?
Would they stand by him even if the club slipped to the second half of the table?
There is more to come from The Albion, a pity to leave now. Anyway, Chelsea will demand instant results. Potter’s way is to mold players to his ways, that takes time . He could well be out of work and deemed a failure this time next year…..

I agree. When was the last season that not one of the Big Six changed their manager? It must be some years ago.
