How about for the 4 x salary, chance to work with elite players and CL football, without even having to move house or change his kids’ schools? No chance he’ll turn it down if offered, sadly.

Is all that worth it if you have to deal with a moronic boss constantly?

Your enjoyment for the game would start to wane and you'd start to hate going into work each day.

I think you are spot on.

A failure at Chelsea will mean he is well down the list for another crack at that type of job.

He might well pick up another PL job, in fact I’d be surprised if he didn’t. But it certainly wouldn’t be as good as the one he has now, that’s for sure.

Also Potter is only a cog (all be it a very important one) in the machine at the Albion. He will be very aware of everything that has led him to being a success here, and he will know that to replicate it elsewhere he will need all of those elements.

Managers and players at PL level don't base their decisions on 'what if I fail?' They are way to ambitious for that.

However if they think the set up at the new club leaves them destined to fail, then that will come into the decision of course.

Just read as well that their futile chase of Antony Gordon from everton was not wanted by Tuchel, but he had no say. Boehly is using some stats database to pick players.

Sounds like it's a bit of a basketcase place at the moment.

My big issue is they meet his buyout, and GP goes, just out of courtesy/ interest and if he then gets turned down or turns it down, how that may damage his current relationship with the players and the general 'together' mood.

I think the players, and other staff, would all understand. They all work in the same business after all.

More like 6 or 7 times his salary. Lampard was allegedly on £7.8m.

I think this is less a factor for managers than players.

A manager's career is not short - he doesn't have to worry about this being his only shot at all of those things.
The truth is, if he isn't ready for the step up, then he will do his longer time financial/professional prospects more harm than good.
Staying here for another season won't do him any harm at all.

He is/will be a top manager.
He has no need to rush into it.

He will know he is kissing goodbye to the safety net we have given him here once he goes.
He may feel he is absolutely ready for it and if so,he goes with all of our blessings.

It’s over.
He’s the perfect fit for what Todd Boehly wants to do with the football club,
It’s too good an opportunity to turn down, unfortunately.

Yeah, you're probably right. But at the time of writing that post, merely travelling to have a chat with them doesn't mean it's automatically 'a done deal'.

Fear he'll probably go. Financially it will be life-changing, but probably not so good a move for his footballing career and reputation - maybe the money will compensate. Still, it's getting to be a bit of a Brighton thing - Cucu and Biss have no doubt upped their wages to an eye-watering amount, but footballing-wise they've gone to the wrong clubs. Think it might be the same for Potter if he goes to Chelsea.
Will he get to take Gimli the Dwarf and the rest of his coaching team with him?

Given they spent £250m in the summer, if that was the case why not just do it then? Seems a bit of an odd strategy to wait 8 games then do it.

Maybe, maybe not, Tuchel has been coming across as increasly unstable recently, maybe things going on behind the scenes, that developed over time?

I don’t know if I am in denial but I just can’t get my head around a new manager. Hopefully TB and PB are more switched on than me. I’m sure they are. They will be annoyed and get on with it.
Horrible thought, what if Chelsea come for PB? Doesn’t bear thinking about.

Hopefully not something we need to worry about, but looking back at all appointments since Bloom took control, it is unlikely to be a well established one.

Oh dear, it won't end well for Potter if he doesn't hit the ground running. Different ball game at these top clubs as they want instant success unlike little clubs like us who allow plenty of time to bed in and get the team to play his way. We haven't got superstar players so they respect the manager yet these overpriced donors will find it hard to take instructions from someone who isn't a well known name.

As for us, think we'll struggle if Potter leaves, hope not but got a horrible feeling.

Yeah, its a package deal, Potter comes with an assistant, a statistician and a recruitment man. No way he moves on without them, I wonder if Bloom mentioned the buy out clauses of £10M a piece for each of them to Chelsea?

Completely underwhelmed. Might as well stay here Graham old chap

https://www.theshedend.com/topic/35557-graham-potter/

One of the brilliant minds on there said this .........

"As I and others have said in the Tuchel thread, will be interesting to see how he copes playing against a low block most of the time. A challenge which he does not currently face at Brighton"

Not the highest standard of insight on that board

It might be worth setting up some sort of hyperloop between the club offices at Chelsea and the Amex, where they just continually fire mountainous bundles of banknotes down to us 24/7

I’m a genius

Sell cucu to Chelsea for £60m
Allow potter to talk to Chelsea
Find out wage being offered
Offer potter wages close to amount Chelsea offer using money from sale of cucu

Done.
