The notion of developing future England players isn't in Tuchel's remit. Its simply all about next year - thats it. That was the choice the FA made. Its a choice for the here and now.

as much as love Welbeck, i'd be very concerned about the state of the rest of the English talent pool if he was called up.

Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins, Dominic Solanke, Danny Welbeck, Liam Delap... apart from those five (and Solanke is injured) I struggle to see who the other realistic options for CF would be?

There's a billion good English wingers right now but the depth up front isn't all that.

Well, he is older than Ethan Nwaneri, and (two weeks) older than Kobbie Mainoo, who are both touted to be included.

He's been magnificent for Atletico so that seems likely. England doesn't have many work horses like that these days.

Hinshelwood has played 29 Premier League games. To me that seems a little early for an England call up. I’m sure there are examples of other young players being called up that early, but I’m not convinced.

Webster might have had a chance if he’d been playing all season, but feels like too few games back in our starting 11 to go straight to the England squad.

Does Welbeck score enough goals to be an England centre forward? Or would he play in a wider role?

I hope Jack Hinshelwood does not make the England squad because - quite simply - to be good enough for England he has to be an automatic name down for the Albion 1st XI and I don't think he's that, yet.

Let's see how he gets on in some of the big matches we have coming up. Much better to let him develop at the Albion and then have another look at him after the World Cup.

That said, he's not far off, and his versatility makes him an attractive bench option.

Exactly the same number of Premier League games as Adam Wharton who - in my opinion - is pretty close to being a starter for England as LCM. Wharton is just over a year older and has a season at Blackburn behind him before joining Palace.

I do agree that - generally - England have called up too many players too quickly, Mainoo and Angel Gomes being two recent examples.
