It takes 2 to have a conflict. It wasnt a Trump supporter that shot this bloke. Whilst I am no Trump supporter at all, I do think he is facing down a real socialistic Democratic Party that will stop at nothing (and that includes inciting and not stopping riots in their OWN cities) to get Trump toppled.Whatever the cost. Trump gets all the bad press, but the other side is just as bad, its not reported tho.

I think you overestimate the permanence of the influence of a president. America is a conservative nation meaning that its values don't change much over time.
I also suspect that a good proportion of Americans don't see Trump as a jackass any more than they see the English as cultured and sophisticated.
America won't change if Trump wins any more than it changed with 8 years of that cultured and civilised chap, Obama, in the hot seat.
Perhaps the biggest threat to America in the long term is its seeming resistance to the influence of forces of change. Yet, perpaps that is its biggest strength. I'm still not sure which is correct.

It's ridiculous to call Biden a socialist. He's already said he doesn't back Medicare for All which Trump has called a Socialist bill. Trump knows how to press the buttons of a large part of the electorate and calling Biden a Socialist is a surefire winner. The American definition of Socialism and the rest of the World's are two different things

Civilisations and countries rise and fall, its the way of things. The Romans controlled much of ancient Europe and North Africa, now days Italy can't form a one party government. We ruled the world almost for 150 years or so then it all fell apart and the US took the lead in the world. Maybe their time is over.
