Are you saying we shouldn't argue with Trump cult members? Shame, it is usually quite fun.

I actually think Trump stands a good chance of re-election. I don’t approve of him BTW.

And, IMO, Biden is far from an ideal candidate. He’s got a track record of abusing women (pushing a woman to the wall and sticking his fingers inside her). He’s also showing signs of dementia and I think he will be torn to shreds in the debates (assuming they go ahead still).

Also, in a religious country, Trumps stance on things like pro-life, nationalism, etc. play well to a lot of Americans. He also has many Black people standing up for him on the racist slurs too.

The democrats have negatives, such as the history of Clinton/Epstein, and their lack of support for the police over the rioting. I don’t believe the garbage on Twattersphere as it’s mainly (IMO) a left-wing bullying arena.

Too much of politics now is attack the person and not debate courteously. For example, the constant use of the word Gammon on this site. Just because someone has a different political opinion doesn’t mean they are racist/thick/angry, but it appears that that is the default position of the liberals.

I despair at the level of political debate now in a lot of the world - part of the reason I’ve avoided posting much on NSC over the last year or so. Debates became attacks and not constructive.

Middle America and decent folk in the US, aren’t “lefts”. The Democratic Party will be after the vote equivalent here of the centre right, liberals and ethnic minorities (within that professionals, intellectuals, entrepreneurs). People with a conscience.

Many centre right people in the UK I know, Tory voters in the main, despise racist, uncaring, planet destroying, corrupt Trump.

I’ve only ever come across one person who fell for the Make America Great rhetoric (at the expense of everything else), and he’s completely changed his mind .... embarrassed that briefly he was wooed by Trump’s baloney.

Spot on.
I was looking at why Comma-la pronounced Kamala Harris was considered a leftie fanatic. Pro abortion and sympathy towards migrants according to the Washington Post.

Trump is in all probability an atheist but he knows only too well how to play the religious card with his Evangelical base to garner their support. Although the rather embarrassing incident with Jerry Falwell Jnr and his pool boy probably hasn't gone down too well

In all probability? Is there any doubt? One thing is for sure, he is not a Christian. But nor, I would suggest, are most of the evangelicals who support him.

Most of the disdain for CCP approach came from USA and the western media, whilst all the time ignoring the problems in their own backyard. There seems to be this fallacy that 1bn+ Chinese need saving by Trump, but that couldn't be further from the truth. They see what's happening in a 'democratic' society and are happy to continue living the way they are, much like me, my friends and family.

maybe that fallacy exists in the US along with numerous others , they really are a dumb bunch.........i think people who are paying attention may be wary of the rapid expansion of chinese naval base construction and their insistence on claiming sovereignty over the Spratleys and a large area of the South China Sea which is being rebuked by Taiwan , Indonesia , The Philippines and Malaysia ....obviously the US are all over it as is Australia , i think the general consensus is that the people on the whole are un item behind XI even though he has just announced he intends to rule for the foreseeable future...( ie till he dies) i won't bring up my travelling exploits as it will annoy The Clamp :bigwave: but there is no doubt Chinas influence is spreading far and wide across the planet with numerous countries now being in insurmountable debt.....people here (Australia) are becoming increasingly uneasy with the amount of HD cctv cameras posing up on freeways and in public precincts , the main reason for the unease is that the cameras are produced by Huawei.......they are just not trusted in the "West" generally.

there's no good reason to be suspicious of Huawei brands over any other, they and the networks they connect through are not controlled by the company. Trump has been very successful in fermenting suspicion and distrust of Chinese and their brands, when US have been caught spying on everyone not so long ago. the debt issue is China learning from the old western play book, they just focus on investment (with strings) rather than mucking about with all that colonalism.

quite , they are investing in ports , airports, hospitals , dairy farms , cotton farms , buying rights to Australian water for said farms from our corrupt , nasty lying party...Abbotts mob , most of the money generated disappears into govt. coffers never to be seen again. i think on a level playing field of corrupt , inept political practice our federal government is PSG to your Tranmere Rovers.

Now that is a good review for Tony Abbott the Trump sucker announced yesterday as the new UK Trade Envoy. The man to take the UK on the post Brexit journey.

Trump's Convention speech sounds uncannily like Mayor Quimby out The Simpsons. Only difference is one is a crooked cartoon character and the other is Mayor Quimby

Anyone else think he’s going to walk it?
It relies on millions of voters forgetting how badly let downthey wrret by the bloke they voted for last time that implored them the that the opposition is going to wreck the country if they get in. A lot like the Tories campaign strategy, and sadly it often works.

I think the riots are playing into his hands, as are Bidens comments about locking down the country.

Testing or not the cases are going down and that’s what the headlines are saying - so why would those suffering from job losses want to lock down again?

You then have the storms hitting, the performance of him and covid is slowly leaving the front page.
