So why didn't you go today then, if you were offered a free ticket? That's even cheaper than trying to get in as a kiddie.

:glare:

I was 'offered' a free ticket at 2.30 - however not only would I have not got to Withdean until 3.15, but the ticket wasn't directly offered to me by the owner!

Only the minority who would try to get in as a child/OAP.

Well at least some people seem to understand WHY the club has pricing, and doesn't particularly want people mis-using their generous concessions.

Overall, the under-16 concession is patently obvious, and it's not put there for people to try and cheat on.
The SENIOR ticket is GENERALLY over 65, EXCEPT under certain conditions which allow for that concession to start at over 60.
There are other concessions which MIGHT apply to ages in-between (and include those who accompany the dis-abled).

What? What?

I complained that, instead of throwing out fans with a zero-tolerance policy (and potentially losing them in the long term), they should be made to pay up in order to get in, thus hopefully retaining the support, and also ensuring the club gets the correct revenue.

Fulfilling? Quite.

I made it clear that people with incorrect tickets could simply go and have them excessed - I compared it with getting a train ticket and going further than your ticket was printed and priced for.

So, where is the "zero-tolerance policy" and the throwing out fans?

WARNING to any TICKET CHEATS out there

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the turnstyles there have been some people 'sneaking' in with Under-16 tickets and even SENIOR CITIZEN tickets (amazing!).

There's a crack-down on this, the operators are now going to be more aware and watchful - and WHEN YOU GET CAUGHT WITH THE WRONG TICKET YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR MONEY because you will be turned away.
No, you cannot simply come out with an excuse about "a tout who sold you the ticket outside" or that you are taking the place of a family member and didn't realise.

No exceptions - you will not get in, and you will be wasting money and time trying it on.

It IS ripping off the club, and complaints about ticket price don't distract from that.
Identities will be checked, and even those people who look 'close' to the right age, should think about proving they qualify!!

Be warned - and tell anyone you know who thinks they can get away with it because they have done in the past.

Thanks - and well done for the general support today - the atmosphere was excellent today

Here?

For crying out loud THINK will you?
A WRONG TICKET is only "WRONG" after you have had the chance to excess it, and have been warned.
A lad got turned away last week after presenting a WRONG TICKET, perhaps because he lied and said it was from a tout, when a quick check revealed that SEVERAL were bought, and the purchaser lived at the same address as the holder - so it was NOT a "tout ticket".

Every and any person holding an Under 16 concession ticket that does not apply to them (because they are older than 16!) has the opportunity to go and get it upgraded!
People do go and do it all the time, they pay the excess - while on the other hand, there are some who DO seek to try getting away with not paying the correct price.

Which ones do YOU want to encourage??

I know which ones the club want to encourage!
You though, seem CONFUSED. :thud:

Why am i confused ? Where does it say in your original post that you can upgrade your ticket?

That's not even the subject of this thread though is it?

How can someone on the turnstile prove that someone that is say 17/18 is under 16 though? it doesn't say anywhere that you need to bring ID with you.

You are Wrong with a capital W.

I discussed this matter with senior stewards, had the nod from them AND the ticket office, who I also discussed this with.
You seem to have been discussing a 'briefing matter' already - and without knowledge that I was REQUESTED to work the turnstyle TODAY, but had to turn it down because I was asked elsewhere to work Director's hospitality (not an area without a little responsibility and standard, wouldn't you agree?)

Nice work though, both of you. :nono:

Is this "oneupmanship" in the world of the fluorescent jacket wearers? Is there more kudos in supervising the toilets of the moderately wealthy than in scrutinising the ticket stubs of the bewarted, foul-smelling general public?

Do you have to say "sit down" in a nicer tone of voice? Do you have to smell nicer and be more presentable to work in the freeloaders' section?

I just want to know who has more lace-holes in their Doc Martens - that is the TRUE test of superiority in the world of the steward.

All areas treated with the same degree of responsibility, but I could only work one area of responsibility at a time - therefore the directors were accorded the same degree of responsibility as would the fans. During the game, I was able to attend to fan's requirements - which included moving two people who were in seats that were not theirs, so that the actual ticket-holders could take the seats they had purchased.

Perhaps someone will be able to conjure up a reason why fans, players, or friends of players can stay in a seat that a paying fan holds a ticket for?

Off you all go, and see if anyone (even another steward) can come up with something?

I actually agree with the sentiments of the original post re:tickets, but I'm not sure the stewards should be arguing on here.

Reminds of the time when one of our security people at work was caught nicking something was Sainsburys.

Ended up with a full on fight between our security guard and a couple of Sainsburys ones right outside work in Camden alongside a crowd of very confused tourists.

I hate people who take their jobs to seriously and take their work home with them. Unless you're jobs of some importance then theres no point, your not going to make any difference to world. And a steward has no any importance what so ever, infact its a SHIT job. They just get to feel important for a couple of hours every other week by telling people to sit down and threatening to chuck them out. I cant stand them.

All you arguing Stewards will have to work together again soon. Bear in mind that it is easy to be brave on a message board however when you are face to face next you may find some of these comments very embarassing.

Come on lads, we take the piss, some of you are power happy twats however generally you do a good job on behalf of the club.

What a particularly vindictive and immature rant that was.

I'd love to see your face when somebody turns around to you and tells you your job is shit.

Alternatively, would you like the stadium heavily policed week in week out instead ?

Grow up.
