I hope so, and I don't doubt that at all. I was just using it as an example really.
I have no doubt we will have a very strong squad come August 31st. I hope, but doubt we will have one by 9th August, and in the present climate, personally I have no problem with that. It's just how it is.
Gus and Oscar both wanted to leave the club before they're season's ended due to the lack of they're transfer targets.
A football club is not run for the convenience of the managers who sign a contract and are paid a lot of money to carry out the policies of the board. I cant stand the arrogance suggested by this walking out because their budget is not big enough. It's ridiculous. Good riddance to both Poyet and Garcia if that was their motivation for going. The only criticism to be laid at the board is possibly not choosing the right person in the first place
managers like Oscar don't generally walk out on clubs like us halfway through the project
Are you really that naive? As for Oscar, when he rejoined Maccabi Tel Aviv one of their fans came on here and categorically stated when he left the Albion it was done without his old job being offered back to him, and that there was a clear time gap. Oscar himself said when he resigned that there was no other job imminent.
Is anyone suggesting that Sami wasn't made aware of the club's stance on FFP before he joined, or suggesting that he was ill-prepared to manage within tight financial constraints and was expecting to be snowed-under by former premiership players clamouring to sign for us, and fighting for first-team football?
If you are suggesting these things then I would contend that you've got your head up your 4r5e and might not be giving Sami and the Board the respect they deserve.
I'm not of the opinion that the Board would take on an eminently qualified but inexperienced (in the grand scheme of things) manager without giving him the full lowdown. Why would they hide these things from him? So that he can get fed up and walk out? Doesn't seem likely to me... but then I'm as ill-informed as most other people on here and can only stand on the outside and look in. Of course we're getting a bit tense and of course we're fearful of the club sliding backwards... but we're not stuck in Cardiff's shoes and we're not anything like as likely to suffer ridicule as Leeds United. We have what appears to be a fully-committed set of Albion fans in charge and I for one don't want it any other way.
Let the FFP chips fall as they may and let's see how we all feel about the way the club is being run in another 12 months or so. Only then will we be better able to say whether current business practices were good, bad or just cautious. Whatever your perception of the outcome, there will be those who dissent.
Bring it on.

Your common sense approach won't be appreciated by a large amount of posters on here.
Seriously there has been so much negative bullshit and bed wetting, even by NSC standards over the past few weeks regarding lack of signings, its staggering, even for us.
I get the feeling the club, and Burke in particular, cannot win with some of you. We could sign any number of players tomorrow if we choose to. We haven't because, like most other clubs, we want the best we can get.
Personally I am relaxed as I ever have been going into a season. I think this will be our year, I really do.
I don't think for one second we will have the squad in place for the opening game of season. But it will be by 1st September.
What would some of you prefer. To panic buy and pay over the odds?
For example we want Ward. So, should we have paid (I don't know the exact figures) say £14k a week for him a month ago, or hold out and get him for £10k a week or less. If we are giving him a three year deal, thats a huge difference. Clubs don't seem to be queuing up with huge wages for him to they! If it doesn't happen, I sure we have another left back lined up.
What makes this season even harder for the club, is its the first year FFP rules will come into effect and make a difference.
Agents by their nature will be holding out for the best price they can get, and before too much longer they will start to realise that they are not going to get the type of deals they could last time out, because clubs cannot much the old wages and stay within FFP rules.
Why do you think Kusczcak is without a club still?? This time last season he would have been snapped up within weeks. He's holding out for his old wage or close to it, and not getting anything.
So a club like the Albion who demand the best deals they can get will sit tight, and before much longer agents and players will start getting nervous and lower their demands in the fear of missing out.
The biggest problem for me (and as much as I detest Poyet I'm in full agreement with him here) the transfer window should shut before the season starts.
But it doesn't and I am completely as ease if the club do not make a signing until the last day of August.
Lets be honest, whoever got us £800k for 3 months worth of Ashley Barnes, and then got us £10m(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) for Ulloa, is pretty savey in the transfer market.
Lets all calm down, sit and wait, and stop trying to blame the wrong people.
Just remember, we could sign any number of players tomorrow. We choose not to, because we want the best available, and for that we will have to wait a little longer.
Are we that strapped for cash that we couldnt afford the wages of a keeper since June?
Oh now that's a bit harsh,no? What's to say someone who has a very low paid job stretches their budget to buy a season ticket, surely you have to appreciate their financial input. To be fair, I think a majority would support those views. Unfortunately the minority make a majority of the posts....whinging whilst never having made any purposeful input, financially or otherwise. Let them bask in their misery I say.
Are you really that naive?
But I can't relax into those thoughts given that in August, five league games and a cup game will have potentially passed us by with limited return if you take recent performances into consideration.Same here
Are you really that naive?
And that's why I thumbed you down. We'll have to agree to disagree. I don't see the need for the "head in hands", and I don't see why you start a thread berating the fact you've been "thumbs' down" whilst simultaneously thumbing down other posters who simply have alternative views to your own.
You demand facts on the one hand, and make huge unsubstantiated assumptions on the other - you have no proof Oscar left us directly to move back to Maccabi, but you can carry on thinking that as it clearly suits your agenda against the man you call Mr. Dull.
