We need to spend anywhere between 20-40 million pounds in total to stay up and remain within a respectable budget should we go down.

Spending the most money doesn't guarantee success, as evidenced by last season. I think the club do get value for money, the majority of the time, so let it continue.

Indeed, our squad needs a couple of additions but we don't need to go mad

Want us to spend very wisely - but intuitively feel we'll have to go big on a striker (and convince the rest of the squad that the player is worth it). Lucas Perez @ Arsenal keeps cropping up in my head.

More than happy to keep the same policy. Why change from getting in committed team players who are prepared to play and give 100% and do not demand more money than they're actual worth and start bringing in up their own arse mercenaries who don't give a shit and ruin the team spirit with some poisonous attitude.

The brutal reality of the PL means that heavy and expensive investment in players is the only way to have any chance of survival.

Sensible spending but would be willing to go a little mad for a quality striker. Don't know if the club are just playing the position down by not really mentioning it but if we don't sign a top quality striker I would put my mortgage on us going down.

The biggest problem is the wages. Signing players on contracts of more than £20k could backfire if we don't survive.

We need the right sort of players for a decent wage and maybe that will mean spending slightly more on a transfer fee but since CH arrived we've improved our squad with most of our signings without paying too much.

If you look at those we have recruited recently we've found plenty of bargains. Kayal, Goldson, Hemed, Murphy, Sidwell, Rosenior & Bong each purchased for less than £1m. Add to that Uwe, Duffy, Skalak, Norwood, Knockaert & Murray. There are plenty of bargains available

I'd say Norwood and skalak were poor investments and both need shipping out asap

Players need not only to provide VFM but also fit in with the incredibly close dynamic of the existing squad. Patience will pay dividends, panic buying simply doesn't work.

There's an argument to be made for keeping spending lower on transfer fees and spending more on wages. Teams like WBA have stayed up with exactly that philosophy.
