Hang on so let me get this right - you're having a go at me for not seeing the problem with someone putting a LEAFLET through your door?!

It's not the best signature but I couldn't think of anything else to put.

I don't have ANY assumptions here, that why I was genuinely asking what is wrong with getting an Islamic leaflet through your door. Not looking to highlight idiotic prejudice at all, no motive to my post other than pure curiosity.

the faux niavete is irritating mate and not a very good start to a debate. Your second post and you are still doing it. Its cringy.

You live in all white East Preston in a shared flat and are into rock bands. I can imagine your experience of inner city multicultural communities (let alone islamic countries) is fairly limited to say the least, but pitch into a debate with the confidence of a slightly over indulged 6th former. Fair play to you but the way you come across is cntish, smugly asking 'oh silly people scared of a leaflet I know better'. So I will not be playing with you.

Clued up anti racists and people comfortable with multi ethnic areas still understand that Islam in Britain is confident and increasingly prominent in society and would understand why I raised it, without having to play dumb for their own egos sake. You may think it may not have negative implications for our society, who knows you may be right, but then you live in f***ing East Preston and its really not your problem right now.

You are reading unbelievably too much into my comments. And you are pretty inaccurate about me, don't just guess who I am.

I'm not suggesting I know better for a second. I don't think you are silly. I'm GENUINELY asking what the problem with a leaflet is, not the overriding themes of racial tension etc. Just the leaflet.

I don't live in East Preston now. I don't live in a shared flat. And I know this will probably sound pretentious but as a touring musician I've been to (and stayed in for reasonable lengths of time) plenty of absolute HOLES all over England, so no I don't just live in a West Sussex bubble.

Have also been to the far east. Oh well. Always fun to try some assumptions and prejudice though, isn't it?

sorry mate i did jump into it a bit. put two and two together and come up with 5. apologies. The problem is I now have and image of you with a harmonica wired round your face, a bass drum strapped to your back and cymbals clashing between your knees, as you tour the country like some cheerful itinerant tipping your hat to passers by. It is much funnier.

Dont worry about the leaflet. You are right its just a leaflet for Islamic financial products. What is the problem indeed? Adherence to Islamic financial rules could have helped us avoid the hole we are in perhaps.

Haha I wish I was like that. I can understand how you could see that I was being smug, and I'm sorry for coming across like that. And I understand now that your issue was not with the leaflet, but more to do with portents etc. I was actually being a bit naive and dumb.

East Preston is ridiculously white. It does have Des Lynam though.

Carry on.

And he is the whitest man on earth too. He is like a raffish charming cloud of a man.

I went to the doctor last week with a lettuce sticking out of my arse. That was just the tip of the iceberg.

As its been said so many times before, its a tiny majority, and probably no more than felt WW2, The Falklands etc etc was wrong, its just that back in the day, those protaginists didnt live in an era when people could say what they wanted and wouldnt have to think too much about the consecuencies.

The vast majority of muslims probably view them as pointless as we do.

By all accounts 20,000 leaflets were distributed in the lead up to this demonstration. It appears 20 odd people turned up to demonstrate.

That says a lot about the local Muslim population who thought it was a rather silly idea.

People like Bushy have short memories or would rather use this to push their quite obvious agenda.

I recall quite clearly people demonstrating at the docks when the ships pulled out to fight in the Falklands and of course there are quite famous examples of the Aristocracy who thought fighting Hitler was jolly bad form.

Personally I quite like living in a country where the odd person is allowed to demonstrate in a where that the majority don't agree with and I was quite appalled that the bloke at Oxford circus was banned from telling everyone by megaphone they were going to hell.

We should protect is the right to protest because that is one thing that this odd Government has tried their best to erode.
