Yes, I'm absolutely trembling at the thought of teachers, nurses, surgeons, junior doctors, train drivers, rail workers and bin men going on strike under Starmer. At least, today, it's only.....
and diverted into the pockets of already well paid train drivers . . .
But no one has said otherwise -of course they do. What annoys folk, quite understandably is when groups of workers who know they have industrial clout, use it continually to hike up their already generous pay. Train drivers have a responsible job, which should be adequately rewarded, but the constant resort to strike action to push through one pay demand after another, smacks of unbridled greed.
The huge jump in inflation over the past couple of years has obviously passed you by. Well-organised folks have attempted to protect their living standards, sorry ordinary workers doing that offends you so much? You must be delighted that non-union workers have been screwed over, so have that as a consolation. I'll await with interest for your many posts on here attacking the greed of MPs and their pay rises, or corporate bosses and their huge millions-plus gravy train which is back in full swing after the brief interruption of Covid.
What do you mean by continually to hike up? This run of strikes is all part of one dispute. The fact that the government have deliberately exacerbated the dispute by their refusal to negotiate seems to have eluded you. Same with the junior doctors (although they bent over backwards for the consultants).
The government are using tax payers money to pay the train operating companies to not speak to the drivers.
Someone I used to work with in FS retrained after redundancy and is now a Train Driver for South Western
The game is on and a normal Matchday service will run. Final answer, glad we had all that panic…. It’s not an hourly service it’s 4 trains an hour with 2 extra trains if crew are available.
@jackalbion any more on Luton trains from London ... Looking on national rail site and lots still running on there. Will we just have to wait until the day to find out. Ta
East Midlands Trains will definitely run, Thameslink ones I can give you an answer on Monday.
There is an hourly Thameslink service between St Pancras and Luton calling at Luton Airport Parkway ONLY. Last train departs at 1900. East Midlands run a half hourly service between St Pancras and Corby which calls at Luton, normal hours for that service although I expect it will be very busy.
