Not strictly true.
It originates from South America but we've been eating and breeding them here since the late 16th century. On the basis of where they come from, you may as well dump the potatoes !
Became most popular in Victorian times as the nations choice because it makes sense economically for a large family and is bigger than a goose.
My point being that eating it at Christmas has nothing to do with North Americans choose to eat.

Went down to Sainsbury's last doors yesterday, and not one turkey knocked down in price though the goose was half price at 30 notes - bit too much for me though.
Gone for the leg of lamb joint instead at just over 3 notes AND the Nectar points. It might also run to filling my sandwiches to and from the Majeski if I don't over-guts myself this afternoon!

We had French onion soup to start - followed by roast turkey, red cabbage, carrots, Brussels, roast potatoes, honey glazed parsnips, peas, Yorkshire pudding.
Desert - later as we are all stuffed - cheesecake, profiteroles or Xmas pudding

Ive got a 5kilo 35 day hung fore rib joint slow roasted for twelve hours, it'll be ready at five after an hour resting...should be amazing.
